Utility Maintenance Mechanic I - Water
This is semiskilled work involving the maintenance and repair of city treatment and pumping plants and stations. Work is performed under the continuing supervision of a designated supervisor. The employee may be expected to give guidance and direction to less experienced or seasonal employees.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
The intent of this job description is to provide a representative summary of the major duties and responsibilities performed by employees in this job. Employees may be requested to perform job-related tasks other than those specifically presented in this description.
Performs basic maintenance and repair work on plant equipment including pumps, chemical feed equipment, lines, valves, belts, motors, boilers, bar screens and the like.
Checks heating, ventilation and air conditioning units and systems; makes minor repairs.
Operates a variety of standard power tools and equipment in plant maintenance and repair activities on a regular basis.
Performs preventive maintenance on buildings, equipment and plumbing fixtures.
Performs work as a relief plant operator.
Maintains records and logs, as needed.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Required Education and Experience
Graduation from high school
-AND--
One year of experience in work related to plant maintenance
-OR--
Any equivalent combination of training and experience
Required Licenses or Certifications
Possession of a valid Michigan driver's license
