You will build foundational security features that protect customer data, strengthen platform resilience, and ensure compliance with industry and government standards.\r\nAs a seasoned software engineer, you will be part of a team of passionate, skilled security and distributed-systems engineers to design, implement, test, and harden security-critical components within ONTAP. You will contribute across the full development lifecycle—including design reviews, threat modeling, secure coding, debugging, automated testing, and long-term maintainability. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to solve complex software challenges and optimize performance, all while contributing to the evolution of secure technologies in a rapidly advancing digital landscape.\r\nJob Responsibilities\r\nLead small to medium feature deliveries, participating in the full software development lifecycle with ownership of design, implementation, testing, integration, and code quality.\r\nDeliver reliable, innovative storage and data-management products.\r\nDesign and implement software in C/C++ with emphasis on simplicity, reliability, manageability, and maintainability.\r\nParticipate in product design, development, verification, troubleshooting, and delivery of systems or major subsystems, including authoring specifications.\r\nWrite unit tests and automated integration tests; develop and maintain Python-based test automation and frameworks.\r\nConduct and participate in technical discussions within the team and cross-functional groups.\r\nFacilitate technical discussions and present designs and technical updates to engineering leadership.\r\nJob Requirements\r\nStrong C/C++ software development experience (analysis, design, implementation, testing)\r\nObject-oriented systems programming\r\nFamiliarity with Unix-based operating system kernels and development environments, e.g. Linux or FreeBSD.\r\nExperience working with file systems, distributed systems, client-server programming, multi-threaded applications, and operating systems such as FreeBSD, Linux.\r\nStrong grasp of computer architecture, data structures, algorithms, and standard programming practices.\r\nDemonstrated creative and systematic approach to problem solving.\r\nPossess excellent written and verbal communication skills.\r\nAbility to work under limited supervision and direction.\r\nAbility to work collaboratively within a team environment of other engineers to meet aggressive goals and high quality standards.\r\nKnowledge of network and at-rest encryption, key management, IPsec or other security related areas is a plus.\r\nExperience with Python, REST API, Cloud, and Virtualization environments is a plus.\r\nEducation & Experience\r\nTypically requires a minimum of 5 years of related experience in addition to a Bachelor's degree in a related technical or engineering field.\r\nAdditional experience above the stated minimum requirements may be considered in place of a Bachelor's degree.\r\nCompensation\r\nThe target salary range for this position is $131,000-$155,000. The salary offered will be determined by the candidate's location, qualifications, experience, and education and may be outside of this range. Final compensation packages are competitive and in line with industry standards, reflecting a variety of factors, and include a comprehensive benefits package.
