Engineering - Drafter
POSITION SUMMARY:
A draftsman at A-T Controls is responsible for creating detailed technical drawings and designs for the company's product line. This role involves translating design concepts and specifications into precise, comprehensive drawings that serve as the foundation for manufacturing, quality control, and assembly. The draftsman collaborates closely with other engineers and the production teams to ensure that all drawings accurately reflect product requirements and adhere to relevant industry standards. Key responsibilities include preparing and revising CAD models and technical diagrams, maintaining drawing archives, and updating drawings as product designs evolve. The draftsman also supports project documentation by preparing bill of materials in the PDM and ERP systems. Attention to detail, proficiency in CAD software, and the ability to understand and interpret engineering specifications are critical for success in this role.
AUTHORITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Technical Drawing Creation:
o Produce detailed technical drawings and designs for A-T Controls’ product lines using SolidWorks and DraftSight for quotes, orders, or technical brochures.
Mounting Kit Design:
o Design mounting kits for integration between A-T Controls’ valves and actuators that meets industry standards and specifications.
o Take detailed measurements of customer supplied products to design mounting kits that also must meet industry standards and specifications.
Documentation:
o Prepare and revise CAD models and technical drawings.
o Maintain an organized archive of technical drawings for reference and future use.
Product Data Management:
o Creation of part numbers and bill of materials in the ERP system and update sales orders as needed.
Quality Assurance:
o Review of colleagues’ drawings for accuracy and completeness before being sent to production.
Technical Support:
o Provide technical drawing support for manufacturing and assembly processes.
o Address questions or concerns related to technical drawings from various departments.
Perform other duties as necessary or instructed.
EXPERIENCE/SKILL SET/TRAINING:
2-year Engineering Degree a focus in mechanical engineering is preferred or relative experience.
Training in Sage 100 or similar ERP software.
Auto-CAD, and SolidWorks 3D software experience is preferred.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Overall broad technical knowledge of valve and actuator systems.
Meet annual training requirements per A-T Controls ISO 9001:2015 quality program.
General computer expertise including Microsoft Office suite with emphasis on Excel, Word, and Outlook.
