Databricks Architect

We are unable to partner with any 3rd parties ) Job Title: Databricks Architect Location: Houston, TX (Downtown) – Onsite 4 days per week Duration: 10-Month Contract with the likelihood of extension Position Overview We are seeking an experienced Databricks Architect for the Oil & Gas industry to lead the design, implementation, and optimization of scalable data solutions for a high-impact enterprise environment. This person will serve as a key technical leader, helping shape the organization's Databricks architecture while also partnering closely with stakeholders, mentoring team members, and enabling broader team success through clear communication and training. Key Responsibilities Architect, design, and implement scalable data platforms and solutions using Databricks Lead the development of modern data pipelines, workflows, and cloud-based data architectures Partner with business and technical stakeholders to gather requirements and translate them into effective technical solutions Establish best practices for Databricks platform usage, performance optimization, governance, and security Provide architectural guidance across data engineering, analytics, and integration initiatives Support the modernization of data ecosystems, including batch and real-time processing frameworks Review existing environments and recommend improvements for scalability, reliability, and cost efficiency Act as a technical leader and trusted advisor across cross-functional teams Communicate complex technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences Train, mentor, and upskill internal team members on Databricks tools, architecture, and best practices Create documentation, standards, and knowledge-sharing materials to support long-term adoption and success Required Qualifications Strong hands-on experience as a Databricks Architect or in a similar senior-level data architecture role Deep expertise with Databricks, including architecture, implementation, and optimization Experience designing and delivering enterprise-scale data solutions in cloud environments Strong knowledge of data engineering concepts, ETL/ELT frameworks, data modeling, and distributed data processing Ability to communicate effectively with leadership, business stakeholders, and technical teams Proven experience training, mentoring, or enabling others in a technical environment Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently in a fast-paced setting Experience creating architecture documentation, technical roadmaps, and best practices Preferred Qualifications Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP Knowledge of data governance, security, and performance tuning best practices Background supporting analytics, BI, or advanced data use cases Experience working in large enterprise or complex transformation environments Why This Role This is an exciting opportunity to make a strong impact in a visible architecture role, helping build and scale a modern Databricks environment while also influencing team capability through leadership, communication, and training.
