BAKER / PASTRY CHEF Louma is brand-new bakery in West LA with a mission: blending artisanal baking with social impact. Equipped with top-notch equipment, we’re creating a space where creativity, craftsmanship, and community come together - and we’re looking for passionate bakers to join our launch team. In our kitchen, we craft breads (sourdough, baguettes, rye), classic pastries (Danish and French-style), and seasonal to-go offerings. Overview: Join the growing team at LOUMA Bakery as a baker and contribute to the creation of our exceptional artisanal bread and pastries. As a baker, you will play a crucial role in the day-to-day production of high-quality baked goods, contributing your skills and passion to uphold the bakery's reputation for excellence. Responsibilities: Production Execution Follow recipes and production schedules to ensure timely and consistent preparation of bakery items Operate baking equipment with precision and attention to detail Dough Preparation Prepare, scale, and portion doughs according to established recipes Monitor fermentation and proofing to achieve optimal texture and flavor Baking & Finishing Bake a variety of bread and pastry items to established quality standards Apply finishing touches, including glazes and toppings, to ensure excellent presentation Quality Assurance Conduct regular visual inspections and taste tests to ensure product quality and freshness Communicate any issues with ingredients, equipment, or production to the Head Baker Cleanliness & Organization Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient workspace Follow all hygiene, sanitation, and food safety protocols Assist with general cleaning to keep the bakery in excellent condition Team Collaboration Work collaboratively with bakery and kitchen team members to meet daily production goals Communicate clearly and respectfully with the Head Baker and other staff Requirements: Minimum 1 year experience as a baker or pastry chef Experience with bread production and lamination is a plus Basic understanding of baking techniques, ingredient functionality, and pastry/bread fundamentals Ability to follow recipes and production schedules accurately Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment Passion for baking and a willingness to learn and grow Note: While we prefer candidates with experience in bread, pastry, and cake production, we encourage applicants who are stronger in one area and eager to expand their skills to apply.
