This will be a full time position.\n\nThe Patient Coordinator is responsible for performing a variety of customer service and patient care tasks to ensure a positive patient experience. Ensures documentation and patient records are prepared and organized. Ensures patients have a clear understanding of what to expect during and after their appointment.\n\nSpecific duties include, but are not limited to:\n\nGreets and assists patients, customers and visitors in person and over the phone.\n\nWill perform patient registration in various systems.\n\nAnswers all phone calls in a professional and courteous manner.\n\nMay collect monies for time-of-service patient responsibility.\n\nMay be responsible for verifying insurance coverage and obtain prior authorization.\n\nPatient Assistance:\n\nMay perform preliminary screening of patients prior to procedures, which may include medical history.\n\nMay transport patient to/from the exam room.\n\nMay assist in patient transfer on/off the exam table.\n\nMay transport patient to/from the exam room.\n\nMay provide the patient with preliminary and post-procedure instructions.\n\nWork Area & Supply Preparation\n\nIn the mobile setting, may assist in preparing the unit for transport.\n\nWill maintain a clean and organized work area.\n\nMay order supplies and ensure the work area is properly stocked.\n\nDocumentation\n\nWill ensure accuracy of patient records.\n\nMay schedule patient appointments and obtain insurance verification and/or authorization.\n\nMay prepare medical records for physicians, patients and customers.\n\nEnsures accurate documentation of patient visits in various electronic\n\nsystems and on written documents.\n\nMay assist the clinical staff with documentation and image delivery to the patient, physician, or contracted customer.\n\nPerforms all duties within HIPAA regulations.\n\nOther duties as assigned.\n\nPosition Requirements:\n\nHigh School Diploma or equivalent experience required.\n\nFor Mobile Radiology and Oncology, CPR Certification must be obtained prior to hire.\n\nFor Fixed Radiology, CPR Certification is a plus.\n\nAs applicable, valid state driver's license required.\n\nAbility to work at several locations required.\n\nStrong customer service skills.\n\nOrganizational and multi-tasking skills.\n\nBasic knowledge of computer applications and programs.\n\nLocal travel may be required to support multiple sites.\n\nThe COVID-19 vaccination is/may be a condition of employment.\n\nAll candidates who accept an offer for employment will be required to successfully complete a pre-employment background check and drug screen as a condition of employment.\n\nPreferred\n\nSix months customer service or related experience and/or training.\n\nKnowledge of medical terminology is a plus.\n\nBilingual in Spanish is a plus.\n\nAt Akumin, we invest in the well-being of our employees, so you can bring your best self to work each day.
