Job Description:Insight Global is seeking an Electrical Controls Technician / Controls Specialist to support a highly secure, mission-critical facility. This individual will be responsible for operating, maintaining, and troubleshooting electrical distribution and control systems within a Central Utility Plant environment. The role focuses on ensuring reliable power and utility operations across a large campus, responding to emergencies, performing preventative maintenance, and supporting critical infrastructure systems. The ideal candidate has strong industrial electrical experience, understands PLC-driven systems, thrives in a shift-based environment, and values safety, precision, and teamwork in a high-visibility operation.Day-to-Day:Monitor, operate, and troubleshoot Central Utility Plant (CUP) electrical and control systemsOperate and maintain SCADA-controlled building and utility systemsPerform preventative maintenance on power panels, switchgear, and electrical roomsTroubleshoot and repair industrial control systems, motors, and generatorsSafely maintain low-, medium-, and high-voltage electrical systems (up to and above 15kV)Respond to emergency situations and power outages across a 500-acre campusSupport Plant Stationary Engineers during outages and system eventsPerform general electrical work including lighting, wiring, and fixture replacementRead and interpret schematics, blueprints, and technical manualsMaintain accurate logs, reports, and compliance documentationEnsure safety, code compliance, and operational reliability at all timesMust-Haves:5+ years of electrical controls experience in commercial or industrial environmentsJourneyman Electrician License (preferably in VA). DC or MD acceptableExperience working with high- and medium-voltage switchgear (up to 13kV)Strong understanding of PLC operation (no programming required)Experience operating and maintaining SCADA systemsHands-on experience with MCCs, VFDs, AHUs, generators, and motorsKnowledge of NEC / NFPA 70E and Arc Flash safetyWillingness to work onsite and cover any assigned shiftAbility to obtain Top Secret clearance (not required on day one; escort provided during processing)
