Job TypePart-time, TemporaryDescriptionThe Dishwasher/Prep Cook supports the operation of efficient and healthy kitchens at Black Cap through prepping ingredients and maintaining a clean dishwashing room. They are responsible for washing dishes, maintaining high sanitation practices, preparing ingredients for the sandwich station, and making sandwiches to order. This role assists both FOH and BOH staff in providing customers with quality products and a clean environment to enjoy them in.This position is intended as a seasonal role (July-November) with possible extension contingent on business needs. The position will receive a maximum of 24 hours per week and is expected to work Sunday through Wednesday beginning at 7AM.RequirementsJob Responsibilities:Washing, drying, and putting away dishesPrepare on demand sandwiches for the hot food lineMaintain a high standard of sanitation in the front and back of the cafeSlice and portion out product appropriately in support of production schedulesPull ingredients such as spreads, meats, and breads for next day service and assure that items are properly storedCook eggs and prepare products such as caramelized onions, muffins, smoothies, and seasoningsWash and prepare produceMaintain chemical levels and report any sanitation needs to the Head BakerPrepare overnight oats and parfaits for following dayAssist bakers; time permittingCommunicate ingredient inventory needsPerform assigned cleaning duties, typically scheduled daily, weekly, and monthlyFollow all health codes and maintain exceptional sanitation standardsReport all equipment and maintenance problems to the Head Baker, Assistant Baker, and Operations Director ExpectationsWork Sunday-WednesdayStart work by 7AM on scheduled work daysFollow processes and procedures recorded in Employee HandbookTake direction from managers and assist where neededMaintain regular and reliable attendanceReport to work in proper uniform, abiding by the dress code:Black Cap T-ShirtHair pulled back and covered with a hat, headband, or bandanaClosed-toed shoesPants (no sweatpants)Hands must be free of jewelry and nail polishNails must be kept short and clean Physical Job RequirementsMust be able to lift 50 lbs up and down the stairs multiple times per dayMust be able to lift 50 lbs off the ground from a squatting positionMust be able to frequently squat, bend at the waist, and twist from the waist while carrying heavy, large objects up to 50 lbsMust be able to stand on your feet for up to 8 hours at a time Required Skills & ExperienceServeSafe Food Handler Safety Certification will be provided by Black Cap after hireMust have strong skills in: Communication, attention to detail/consistency, sense of urgency, prioritization, professionalism, adaptabilityMust be timely and attentive to workMust have a growth mindset and respond constructively to feedback Black Out Dates It is important for all employees to be available during peak holiday times.
