The Controller strengthens close discipline, improves balance sheet accuracy, enhances audit readiness, and operates effectively in a fast-moving, operationally focused environment.\n\nMinimum Education and Experience Requirements\nBachelors degree in Accounting or Finance; MBA or Masters degree in Finance preferred\n5–7+ years of progressive accounting experience, ideally in multi-entity environments\nPrior Controller, Assistant Controller, or Senior Accounting Manager experience strongly preferred\nPublic accounting background preferred\nExperience working with remote leadership teams and offshore accounting support preferred\nMulti-location, franchise, childcare, healthcare, hospitality, or service-based business experience is a plus\nSkills Requirements\nNetsuite\nStrong accrual accounting and month-end close expertise\nWorking knowledge of US GAAP, audits, and financial controls\nStrong analytical, organizational, and communication skills\nComfortable leveraging technology, automation, and AI-based tools to improve efficiency\nKey Responsibilities\nMonth-End Close & Financial Reporting\nOwn and manage the monthly close calendar to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting\nOversee execution of the month-end close checklist and ensure processes are followed consistently\nCoordinate with accounting support teams to resolve close issues prior to financial finalization\nEnsure proper cutoff and accrual accounting for payroll, subsidies, CACFP, rent, insurance, and recurring operating expenses\nAccrual Accounting & Journal Entry Oversight\n Prepare, review, and approve monthly accruals and journal entries\nEnsure entries are accurate, properly classified, and fully supported\nMaintain consistency in accrual methodology and accounting treatment month over month\nDocument assumptions and maintain organized support schedules\nVariance Analysis & Financial Review\nPrepare and analyze monthly financial variances\nIdentify operational drivers, accounting issues, and one-time items impacting performance\nPartner closely with the CFO to provide concise, actionable financial insights for leadership and ownership groups\nBalance Sheet Integrity & Reconciliations\nPrepare and/or review reconciliations\nEnsure all balance sheet accounts are reconciled monthly and supported with documentation\nProactively identify and escalate accounting risks or discrepancies\nAudit Readiness & Controls\nMaintain audit-ready documentation throughout the year\nEnsure adequate support exists for revenue recognition, payroll, accruals, and significant transactions\nServe as a primary accounting contact for external auditors and tax advisors\nAssist in developing and documenting accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls\nNetSuite & Process Improvement\n Utilize NetSuite as the primary system of record\nReview account mappings, reporting structure, and chart of accounts consistency\nIdentify opportunities to improve close efficiency, reporting accuracy, and scalability\nRecommend and implement process improvements that reduce manual work, CFO dependency, and post-close corrections\nFoster a positive, inclusive, and collaborative work environment in alignment with NVK's Core Values: Genuine Integrity, Respect and Responsibility, Own Excellence and Win as a Team\n\nThis is a remote position.\n\nThis franchise is independently owned and operated by a franchisee.
