With the recent exciting acquisition by Cambium Biomaterials, Inc. the Company is committed to rapidly accelerating product and footprint development and growth.\r\nThe purpose of this role is to ensure the compliance of all SHD materials is adhered to alongside relevant EH&S, AS9100 and ISO9001 standards and to support the continuing development of safe working practices in our North American facilities\r\nPerson Specification\r\nIn this role, you will support the Group Health and Safety Manager with the daily local responsibilities of health and safety for the company and be responsible for training internal staff in compliance with the companys training plan. You will be responsible for coaching of staff to a high level of EHS competency related to day-to-day manufacturing operations.\r\nKey Responsibilities\r\nRisk reduction\r\nEnsure the completion and review of all OSHA Risk Assessments.\r\nResponsible for the completion of Risk Assessments for all company work activities/equipment and monthly inspections for review with the Group Health & Safety Manager\r\nEnsure waste streams are managed effectively and waste is organized, labelled, and removed in accordance with local legislation.\r\nMaintain an up-to-date knowledge of legislation and Codes of Practice as they affect the Companys activities and keep the Company informed in respect of best current practice, hazard recognition and changes in legislation.\r\nImmediately contact Senior Management if situations are found that require immediate rectification or the stopping of any operation.\r\nConduct Risk Assessments for all employee activities and develop Safe Systems of Work to ensure any residual risk is reduced to as low as reasonably practicable. Ensuring that any actions from the risk assessments and Safe Systems of Work are implemented and the information shared amongst employees.\r\nIt is the responsibility of the Health and Safety Manager to make sure that contractors/sub-contractors and their employees have been provided information on Health and safety risks they may face; Measures in place to deal with those risks; SHD emergency procedures. SHD safe working procedures and site rules.\r\nProcedural compliance\r\nWorking in accordance with Companys established Quality and Health & Safety procedures at all times\r\nReporting\r\nCoordinate environmental reporting per local legislation.\r\nExecution of State-mandated Wastewater reporting and training per local legislation.\r\nEnsure that statutory reports are made to the relevant statutory authority for incidents in accordance with the OSHA requirements.\r\nCirculating information to the Company, as and when required.\r\nStaff awareness and training\r\nEnsure that all levels of staff receive adequate and appropriate Environmental, Health and Safety training and ensure training records are maintained for all staff.\r\nEnsure the appropriate first aid arrangements are implemented including a sufficient number of first aiders and carrying out regular checks of the contents of first aid kits.\r\nEnsuring all new employees in the company are provided with a copy of the Health and Safety Policy, receive induction training, and are issued with Personal Protective Equipment as required and their personal responsibilities are understood.Investigate and Improve\r\nTo carry out investigations, involving managers and supervisors of the area, into all accident and near miss incidents and record the findings and action plans on the relevant forms. Implement improvements resulting from such reviews in a timely manner.\r\nTo highlight areas where coaching/training/certification is required to meet the standards imposed by Legislation.\r\nUndertake periodic safety inspections of the workplace and bring to the attention of others, any matter where failure to comply with statutory regulations has occurred.\r\nInvestigate any near misses, accidents or ill health involving an employee, contractor or sub-contractor.\r\nWork with Site Leadership, HR to coordinate disciplinary action against, and suitable coaching for, staff who fail to follow company rules, as appropriate.Teamwork\r\nAttend health and safety committee meetings.\r\nEscalate through the reporting structure any health and safety concerns which they are not able to resolve.\r\nDemonstrate strong leadership of health and safety by setting a good example and actively following all safety measures, addressing any breaches immediately.\r\nOther\r\nUndertake any other duties from time to time as can be reasonably requested by the company.\r\nSkills and AbilitySelf-motivated and able to prioritize own workload.\r\nMust have flexibility and adaptability for changing workloads\r\nExcellent organization and time management skills, prioritizing workload and working under pressure\r\nHigh attention to detail.\r\nReliable, dependable, and well organized.\r\nCapable of working to agreed procedures, and to tight deadlines.\r\nAbility to work under pressure.\r\nExcellent written and verbal skills including being able to read, write and speak English\r\nCreative thinker.\r\nIT literacy with excellent knowledge of Word, Excel, PowerPoint & Publisher.\r\nCommunication and presentation skills.\r\nCoaching ability.\r\nUsed to working in a collaborative team.\r\nExperience in the Risk Assessment process.\r\nExperience in completing OSHA assessments and the review of all risk assessments.\r\nFreedom to travel regularly within the Americas.
