This person will have a desire to learn and a flexibility to adjust to the fast-changing analytic and reporting demands of our system. The best candidate has solid analytical and communication skills, and experience working with health care data.\r\nReporting to the Data Engineering Manager, the Data Engineer will be a member of a cross-functional team responsible for developing new clinical data products. The areas of focus include Quality, Safety, Health Equity, Community Health, Patient Experience, Provider Wellbeing, Credentialing, and Pharmacy and Formulary.\r\nThe ideal candidate will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to define and achieve strategic objectives. They will be responsible for developing the Quality Data Hub within our cloud-based data warehouse. They will collaborate closely with solutions architects, analytics engineers, and visualization developers to understand requirements, establish robust change management practices, and implement rigorous quality assurance measures. Additionally, the role involves proactive performance monitoring, troubleshooting data issues, and adhering to MGB Digital's standards and practices.\r\nPrincipal Duties and Responsibilities\r\nDesign, build, test and maintain data models within the 'Quality Data Hub' of our cloud-based enterprise data warehouse.\r\nPartners with solutions architects, analytics engineers, and data visualization developers to fully understand our data transformation needs and final model design to competently implement said design.\r\nIn collaboration with analytic staff, performs thorough quality assurance, testing and peer review procedures to ensure the accuracy, reliability, and validity of end products.\r\nAdheres to the processes and tooling through which our enterprise curated data models are built and maintained. Participates in related process improvement efforts.\r\nAdheres to established change management and versioning processes for code promotion. Participates in related process improvement efforts as well.\r\nCollaborates on ingestion design for OCMO related data and handle related monitoring and support duties.\r\nAccrues advanced knowledge of the OCMO product domains and can quickly apply development strategies to meet the stakeholder requirements for the data products.\r\nHelps identify potential bottlenecks within the development lifecycle and propose high-level strategies to overcome them.\r\nTriage, troubleshoot and resolve data issues from end users and internal team members.\r\nFollows MGB Digital guidelines and standard practices to leverage existing tools and methods to efficiently develop modeling solutions, ensure that work is not duplicated, and is appropriately transitioned between teams.\r\nUses the Mass General Brigham values to govern decisions, actions, and behaviors. Candidates with dbt experience highly preferred.\r\nExperience working with cloud data platforms such as Snowflake, Azure Synapse, Amazon Redshift, etc.\r\nExperience with general source control principles and implementing CI/CD pipelines.\r\nExperience with implementing scalable ETL/ELT pipelines.\r\nWorking knowledge of traditional data warehousing and cloud data warehousing concepts.\r\nStrong programming skills and proficient in other programming languages (e.g., SAS, R, and Python)\r\nExperience developing/configuring agentic AI a plus.\r\nWorking knowledge of data visualization (Tableau) software a plus.\r\nProficiency or Certification in Epic Clarity / Caboodle data model a plus.\r\nSkills/Abilities/Competencies\r\nAbility to function effectively and independently in a fast-paced environment, organize and prioritize work independently, and meet tight deadlines.\r\nAbility to manage multiple projects simultaneously, set priorities, and collaborate with team members and others throughout the organization.\r\nPossess strong interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with cross functional teams including staff at all levels of the organization.\r\nWilling to contribute to and foster a team player culture where all are encouraged and willing to share information accurately.\r\nAble and motivated to mentor/train junior staff members.\r\nKnowledge of agile principles and experience working within an agile team is preferred.\r\nPractical problem-solving abilities, i.e. the ability to formulate hypotheses, test options and move forward in a fast-paced environment.\r\nExcellent interpersonal skills, including strong customer service orientation and the ability to translate complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences.\r\nAdvanced SQL DML skills required, with comparable experience in writing data functions (e.g. TSQL procs, Snowflake UDFs, etc.).\r\nWorking Conditions\r\nHybrid with onsite work required in office, candidate must be flexible for weekly or monthly business needs\r\nM-F Eastern business hours required\r\nOn remote workdays, employees must use a stable, secure, and compliant workstation in a quiet environment.
