As Lead Machine Learning Engineer, you will join a Data Sciences team responsible for creating personalized recommendations on the website and the mobile app. You will play a crucial role in designing, implementing, and optimizing production machine learning solutions. We will also expect you to understand best practice software design, participate in code reviews, and create a maintainable well-tested codebase with relevant documentation. At an organizational level, you will conduct training sessions, present work to technical and non-technical peers/leaders, build knowledge on business priorities/strategic goals and leverage this knowledge while building requirements and solutions for each business need.\r\nLocation: Hybrid 1 day/week onsite - Brooklyn Park, MN (must be local to MN)\r\nResponsibilities\r\nLead the design, implementation, and optimization of production machine learning solutions for personalized recommendations on Target.com and the Target App.\r\nEnsure best practice software design principles are followed, and contribute to maintaining a clean, well-tested, and well-documented codebase.\r\nParticipate in code reviews to maintain high standards of quality and consistency across the team.\r\nConduct training sessions and knowledge-sharing activities within the team and organization.\r\nPresent work to both technical and non-technical stakeholders, effectively communicating complex concepts in a clear, actionable manner.\r\nAlign machine learning solutions with business priorities and strategic goals, leveraging this understanding to build relevant requirements and solutions.\r\nDevelop and maintain data pipelines, model optimization processes, and deployment strategies for scalable machine learning solutions.\r\nCollaborate with data scientists, software engineers, and product managers to translate business requirements into machine learning solutions at scale.\r\nDesign and implement automated CI/CD pipelines for model deployment and testing.\r\nWork with Big Data technologies such as Kafka and Spark to handle large-scale data processing and analysis.\r\nLeverage cloud ML services (e.g., Vertex AI, Azure ML, Sagemaker) for efficient model deployment and scalability.\r\nUse distributed training frameworks like Spark, Ray, or TensorFlow Distribute to enhance model performance at scale.\r\nDevelop and manage serving frameworks (e.g., TorchServe, TensorFlow Serving, FastAPI) for serving machine learning models in production environments.\r\nMentor junior team members, providing guidance on machine learning skills, career development, and growth.\r\nDemonstrate strong communication skills, with the ability to tell data-driven stories through visualizations, graphs, and clear narratives.\r\nTake ownership of tight project timelines, ensuring that deliverables are met with high-quality results.\r\nCollaborate effectively within a global team, ensuring smooth coordination and integration across different regions and time zones.\r\nRequired Qualifications\r\n4-year degree in Quantitative disciplines (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) or equivalent experience\r\nMS in Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, Statistics, Physics or equivalent work or industry experience\r\n5 plus years' experience in end-to-end Machine Learning application development, including data pipelining, model optimization, deployment, and API design\r\nHighly proficient programming in Python and either PySpark or Scala\r\nExperience with ML frameworks such as Pytorch, TensorFlow, xgboost, sklearn, and ONNX\r\nExperience with one or more cloud ML services such as Vertex AI/Azure ML/Sagemaker\r\nExperience using distributed training frameworks like Spark/Ray/TensorFlow Distribute\r\nExperience with serving frameworks such as TorchServe/TensorFlow Serving/FastAPI\r\nGood understanding of Big Data tech, specifically Kafka, Spark\r\nExperience creating and maintaining CI/CD pipelines for automated model deployment and testing\r\nWork in partnership with data scientists, software engineers and product managers to understand the business requirements and translate to machine learning solutions at scale\r\nExcellent communication skills with the ability to clearly tell data driven stories through appropriate visualizations, graphs, and narratives\r\nSelf-driven and results oriented;
