Pharmacy Technician

Job Description Description:The Pharmacy Technician, under the supervision of the Pharmacy Business Manager, supports the pharmacist in preparing, processing, filling, and dispensing prescriptions. The Pharmacy Technician sorts, stocks and labels medication while monitoring inventory levels. The Pharmacy Technician works alongside Sales Associates to provide excellent customer service by assisting patients with pickups and transactions. Essential Functions, Duties, and ResponsibilitiesConsistently adheres to all departmental policies and proceduresMaintains high level of patient confidentiality according to HIPPA and company standardsMaintains a safe and clean pharmacy by complying with rules and regulationsExercises excellent customer service by greeting and assisting all patients and visitors with pickups, transactions, and consultations regarding their medicationsAnswers phone calls and requests of patients, healthcare providers, and medical facilities Processes all prescribed medications and ensures all information is accurate and completeOrganizes medications and prepares prescriptions for dispensing by the pharmacists by retrieving, reading medication orders, preparing labels, calculating quantities, counting, pouring, weighing and at times mixing medicationsSupports the Pharmacy by stocking, assembling, and distributing medicationsMaintains records by recording and filing medical providers prescription and ordersEnters data in computer system, recording all prescriptions, purchase orders, requisitions, and disbursementsMaintains and monitors Pharmacy inventory by checking pharmaceutical stock to determine inventory level, anticipating medication and supplies, placing, and expediting orders, verifying receipt, and disposing of expired drugsPerforms other duties as assignedRequirements:Strong analytical, problem-solving, and assessment skillsStrong organizational skills that reflect ability to perform and prioritize multiple tasks seamlessly with excellent attention to detailExcellent interpersonal skills and ability to work cohesively with a team or independently and build relationships with staff and external partnersAbility to operate different equipment such as computers, scan guns and cash registersKnowledge of medical terminology, medication, and dosage measurementBasic mathematical functions in all units of measurementStrong written and verbal communication skillsEffective computer skillsSupply inventory management skillsEducation, Training, and ExperienceHigh School Diploma or equivalent required; college credit or additional education in medical field or insurance and billing courses preferredPharmacy Technician registration/certification in New JerseyHave a minimum of 1 year experience in pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service fieldBilingual English and Spanish preferred
