{"schemaVersion":"jobsearcher.job.v1","id":"bb2a724fb00b24b8d5f58d28","url":"https://jobsearcher.com/jobs/bb2a724fb00b24b8d5f58d28","canonicalUrl":"https://jobsearcher.com/jobs/bb2a724fb00b24b8d5f58d28","title":"Director, Structural Engineering","description":"Job Description: Nextpower is seeking a Director, Structural Engineering, US to join our Project Engineering Team in Fremont, CA office supporting key accounts across the United States This position will be responsible for managing the structural engineering team for utility-scale PV projects from the development phase through construction.\r\nResponsibilities include, but are not limited to, steel design and component sizing, foundation calculations, advanced structural tool development, and the preparation of structural documentation to support project quoting and engineering packages.\r\nKey ResponsibilitiesDirecting a team of Structural Engineers in the US and support regions.\r\nPerform detailed structural analysis and calculations to ensure the integrity and safety of solar structures based on project specific design parameters.\r\nDevelop advanced structural analysis tools in coordination with the R&D and software teams.\r\nCoordination with third party experts in wind tunnel testing, component analysis, and lifecycle testing.\r\nLead structural engineering efforts for multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring timely and efficient delivery to EPC customers.\r\nEnsure all structural designs comply with local, state, and federal regulations, as well as industry standards (i.e ASCE, etc).\r\nCoordinate with project managers and other engineers, from various companies to align structural design within overall project objectives.\r\nManage the relationship between EPC customers and structural EOR partners throughout the project design lifecycle, with direction from the engineering manager.\r\nWork cross-functionally with the Applications Engineering & Testing teams, as well as the Product Development, Machines, and Business Development functions.\r\nContribute to the growth of Nextracker’s Design Services team by supporting process improvement and team development efforts.\r\nRequired Skills/ ExpertiseBachelor’s degree in Structural or Civil Engineering (or equivalent).\r\nMinimum 10 years of experience in structural engineering, ideally within the EPC solar industry.\r\nHands‑on experience in structural analysis and design, including dead, live, snow, wind, and seismic loads, design of steel and concrete structures, and development of construction documents.\r\nAdvanced proficiency in finite element analysis software (RISA 3D, STAAD, or equivalent).\r\nExperience in static and dynamic structural analysis of solar tracker structures.\r\nStrong knowledge of engineering standards, codes, and other applicable state and federal guidelines, including but not limited to IBC, ASCE, ASTM, AISC, AISI and ACI.\r\nProfessional Engineering (PE) license in multiple states.\r\nExperience in Software Development, Machine Learning, and/or Artificial Intelligence preferred.\r\nStrong analytical and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve design challenges.\r\nExcellent organizational and planning skills with ability to prioritize competing deadlines and a portfolio of projects.\r\nTeam‑oriented and self‑driven professional with excellent communication and collaboration skills.\r\nPassion for renewable energy and solar power is a plus.\r\nNextracker offers a comprehensive benefits package.
