Harvey Library invites applications for the position of librarian within the reference department.\nThe mission of the University Libraries, which include the William R. and Norma B. Harvey Library, the architecture department library, and the music department library, is to support the instructional, research, and service needs of the Hampton University community. This is achieved through access and delivery of information services and resources that are essential to academic and teaching excellence, leadership, and lifelong learning.\nDuties and Responsibilities\nProvide in-depth reference services to users in person, and virtually.\nConduct individual and group information literacy sessions to educate users on effective research strategies and resources.\nCollaborate with faculty to integrate library resources into the curriculum.\nManage the library’s government documents collection, including federal, state, and local publications.\nProvide expert reference and research assistance related to government publications.\nStay informed about changes in government publishing and access policies and adapt library services accordingly.\nAssist in the assessment and evaluation of government documents.\nServe as subject liaison to assigned areas.\nParticipate in library committees, working groups, and meetings as required.\nOther duties as required.\nQualifications:\nAn ALA-accredited Master’s degree in library science (MLS) or equivalent is required for this position.\nTwo or more years’ experience working in library public services.\nStrong knowledge of research methods and information resources in various disciplines.\nExcellent communication and interpersonal skills.\nExperience in conducting information literacy workshops.\nAbility to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.\nHow to Apply\nReview of applications will begin immediately and will continue until the position is filled.
