Pay: $40,000.00 - $45,000.00 per yearJob description:Job Type: Full-TimeSchedule: 8–10 hour shifts, day shift, night shift, weekends as needed, on-call rotationLocation: Lawton, OKLawton Area Transit System is hiring a Transit Supervisor / Bus Operations Supervisor to oversee daily public transportation operations, driver supervision, dispatch coordination, route coverage, safety compliance, and customer service support.This leadership position plays a key role in ensuring safe, reliable, and efficient bus service for the Lawton and Fort Sill community. The Transit Supervisor will work closely with bus operators, dispatch staff, operations leadership, maintenance personnel, and the public to support daily transit service, route performance, schedule adherence, and compliance with transportation safety standards.This position is ideal for experienced CDL drivers, transportation supervisors, dispatch managers, fleet coordinators, bus operators, logistics supervisors, or public transit professionals who are ready to step into a leadership role within a stable, community-focused transit system.Key ResponsibilitiesSupervise, coach, support, and evaluate bus operators and dispatch staffManage daily bus operations, route coverage, driver assignments, and schedule coordinationMonitor on-time performance, passenger pick-ups, drop-offs, route delays, and service disruptionsEnsure compliance with DOT safety standards, FTA regulations, drug and alcohol testing requirements, and company policiesCoordinate with dispatch to address driver call-ins, route coverage issues, service interruptions, and customer concernsInvestigate, document, and follow up on accidents, incidents, passenger complaints, safety concerns, and operational issuesConduct driver ride-alongs, performance observations, safety checks, and field supervisionMaintain accurate records including attendance reports, route sheets, incident logs, accident reports, and operational documentationAssist with driver training, coaching, corrective action, and performance improvement when neededCommunicate clearly between operations leadership, dispatch, maintenance, drivers, and frontline staffOperate a bus or serve as a backup driver when needed to maintain service coveragePromote a professional, safety-first, team-oriented work environmentSupport reliable public transportation service for essential workers, students, seniors, individuals with disabilities, military personnel, veterans, and the general publicRequirementsValid Class B CDL with Passenger Endorsement requiredCurrent DOT medical card requiredMust be at least 21 years oldClean driving record requiredNo DUI/DWI or major moving violations within the past 3 yearsAbility to pass pre-employment drug and alcohol screening in accordance with FTA requirementsKnowledge of traffic laws, defensive driving practices, bus safety procedures, and transit operationsExperience in public transportation, passenger transportation, logistics, dispatch, fleet operations, or driver supervision preferredStrong leadership, communication, problem-solving, and decision-making skillsAbility to remain calm and professional during service disruptions, emergencies, complaints, or high-pressure situationsBasic to intermediate computer skills requiredAbility to complete reports, documentation, schedules, and operational records accuratelyMust be dependable, professional, safety-minded, and team-orientedPreferred ExperiencePublic transportation experienceBus operator experienceCDL passenger transportation experienceDispatch or route coordination experienceFleet supervision or transportation management experienceExperience supervising drivers or frontline employeesKnowledge of FTA, DOT, and workplace safety complianceAccident, incident, or complaint investigation experienceWork Environment & Physical RequirementsWork may include office, dispatch, field, bus, and outdoor environmentsAbility to work outdoors in extreme heat, cold, rain, wind, and changing weather conditionsAbility to sit, stand, walk, bend, climb, and perform field supervision duties as neededAbility to lift up to 50–75 lbs occasionallyExposure to bus operations, vehicle noise, traffic conditions, mechanical environments, and public interactionMust be able to respond to operational needs, service issues, and driver support requests in a timely mannerPay & BenefitsCompetitive pay based on experience401(k)401(k) employer matchHealth insuranceDental insuranceVision insuranceLife insurancePaid time offFlexible scheduling optionsLong-term retirement benefitsStable full-time employmentCareer growth opportunities in public transportation and operations managementWhy Join Lawton Area Transit System?At Lawton Area Transit System, our work directly impacts the community every day.
