Be able to work with the general public, and Recreation Center staff. Computer, word processing and typing skills are required.\r\nDUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES\r\nResponsible for operations of the city's Recreation Center.\r\nSupervises Recreation Center staff, programs,\r\nCollecting and accounting for receipts from department programs\r\nDevelop and operate activity programs for the community\r\nGeneral maintenance and upkeep of the Recreation Center and pool\r\nInventory control\r\nProcessing purchase orders\r\nResolving customer's problems and/or complaints\r\nScheduling and coordinating spring activities, games and practices.\r\nBe capable of producing brochures, flyers and other advertising materials to promote public participation in scheduled program activities.\r\nFormulate and supervise employee work assignments and employee work schedules.\r\nPerform other related duties as assigned and/or required\r\nBe able to work a flexible schedule.\r\nMust have good comprehension and communication skills and be a quick learner and apply learned skills to the task at hand\r\nRequires a self-starting individual who can follow instructions and take charge\r\nShow initiative and see that routine as well as special projects are followed through and completed in a timely manner without continuous prompting.\r\nDemonstrated ability to be dependable, organized, flexible and service oriented.\r\nExtensive knowledge of recreational programming and of aquatics activities and skill in promoting recreational facilities.\r\nKnowledge of Recreation operations.\r\nComputer skills to include skill in the use of facility management software.\r\nPossession of excellent interpersonal skills with customers from various backgrounds, staff and city administration.\r\nAbility to maintain cooperative working relationships with the public, customers, staff and city administration.\r\nAbility to work flexible hours.\r\nOTHER DUTIES\r\nThis job description is intended to describe the general nature of work performed by the Special Program Coordinator and is not intended to be all-inclusive. All employees are expected to perform tasks as assigned by their supervisor; furthermore, working hours may be extended in times of necessity.\r\nPHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS\r\nPhysical: Employee is required to sit, walk, frequently carry objects, occasionally may need to move department equipment or supplies in excess of 50 pounds.\r\nMental: Must be able to work in a pressure environment, handling many work assignments at the same time. Job will require judgment decisions in prioritizing work assignments and personnel. In addition, the Special Program Coordinator must be able to maintain good employee relations and good community relations when dealing with irate or unhappy citizens acting in a professional manner.\r\nAll municipal employees will be expected to show and maintain a high level of initiative, enthusiasm, and motivation towards the improvement of ALL aspects of the Freeport community.
