Whether you bring deep technical expertise or emerging leadership skills, we’re looking for motivated engineers ready to help shape the future of underground transmission line design.\nThis role supports the delivery of EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) projects that are modernizing and rebuilding the electric grid. You’ll be part of the Transmission & Distribution (T&D) group and work on high-impact utility projects ranging from 2.4kV to 345kV.\nKey Responsibilities Lead or contribute to multidisciplinary design teams (2–10 engineers/designers) executing underground transmission and distribution projects\nDevelop complete construction packages for transmission and distribution voltage levels, including duct banks, manholes, conduit systems, cable replacements, feeder installation, and equipment upgrades\nPerform routing analysis using Google Earth, ArcGIS, and other CADD/GIS tools to evaluate route feasibility and construction impacts\nDevelop complete construction packages and drawings using AutoCAD Civil 3D and MicroStation\nConduct cable sizing and ampacity calculations using tools such as CYMCAP and Polywater Pull Planner to verify electrical and mechanical performance\nSupport cost estimating and project tracking through Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Project\nPrepare written reports, design narratives, and documentation in Microsoft Word and presentation materials in PowerPoint\nCoordinate internally using Microsoft Teams, OneNote, and Visio to maintain efficient communication and workflow records\nReview and markup design packages using BlueBeam for PDF-based collaboration and quality control\nConduct field inspections, take measurements, and assess underground and overhead electric systems on public/private utility infrastructure\nAnalyze construction feasibility through route studies, conflict analysis, and cost estimating\nLeverage simulation software to model electrical and physical performance, and recommend design optimizations\nProduce high-quality technical reports, visuals, and summaries that communicate findings and recommendations clearly to internal teams and clients\nPrepare detailed engineering calculations and specifications (e.g., cable pulling, ampacity, voltage drop, pole loading)\nLead or support QA/QC reviews for design packages, technical studies, and construction documentation\nCollaborate with procurement, construction, permitting, and environmental teams throughout the project lifecycle\nMaintain strong communication with project stakeholders to ensure deliverables meet client expectations\nPrepare proposals, cost estimates, execution schedules, and participate in project planning efforts\nMentor junior team members and support professional development within the team\nRegularly meet with clients, subcontractors, and external stakeholders to provide updates, gather feedback, and maintain alignment\nSupport strategic business development by nurturing client relationships and identifying new opportunities\nParticipate in thought leadership initiatives including conferences, marketing, and internal technical forums\nQualifications Required Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Civil Engineering from an ABET-accredited program (Master’s degree may substitute for 1 year of experience)\n3–10+ years of experience in underground utility transmission and/or distribution design\nProficiency with underground design tools and CADD/GIS platforms\nStrong understanding of underground construction methods and electrical system equipment\nPreferred Experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D and related utility design software\nFE/EIT certification or Professional Engineer (PE) license\nFamiliarity with topographic mapping, subsurface utility locating, and surveying techniques\nKnowledge of permitting, easements, right-of-way, and NESC code compliance\nExperience conducting field inspections and working directly with clients\nSoft Skills Excellent written and verbal communication skills\nStrong collaboration and cross‑functional coordination abilities\nComfortable in both team environments and client‑facing roles\nProactive, detail‑oriented, and capable of managing multiple priorities\nAbility to solve complex problems and recommend efficient solutions\nYou’ll be one of the first hires on our new underground transmission team in Orlando, with the backing of established teams in other locations.
