Job OverviewThe Math Interventionist for Elementary Title I will develop and implement a student-centered approach to math intervention, aimed at closing the achievement gap in mathematics. The incumbent will provide targeted instructional support and academic interventions aligned with the District's Response to Intervention Plan, ensuring students achieve grade-level standards. The incumbent will collaborate with colleagues to create a strong instructional intervention model that promotes continuous student progress in mathematics.Position DescriptionEssential Duties and ResponsibilitiesInstruction & InterventionUtilize best practices for intervention including small group instruction using the push-in and pull-out model, co-teaching, and the use of math manipulatives and technology to build conceptual understandingProvide intervention in mathematics to students identified as needing Tier 3 level of support in the RTI framework. Determination of students eligible for intervention is made through data analysis and collaboration with Student Support Teams on campuses.Analyze data using the cycle identified in the Local Assessment Plan from formative, interim, summative, and mathematics screeners to monitor student progress and plan focused student interventionsCollaborate with campus teachers to deliver research-based mathematics instructionCollaborate with campus administrators, teachers, and the Teaching and Learning division to plan and deliver targeted student interventions aligned with the Districts Response to Intervention planCollaborate with district and campus administrators and teachers to evaluate student achievement for the purpose of placing students in the appropriate intervention and identifying/delivering support servicesCoordinate with campus administrators and teachers to organize mathematics intervention and enrichment activities for studentsSupport for teachers through ongoing job-embedded professional learning to support co-teaching, research-based best practices in math instruction, and to facilitate best practices in student intervention strategiesCollaborate with teachers and students to set and track student performance goalsRegularly communicate with campus and district staff and parents regarding student progressProgram SupportLead and/or participate in guided observations to promote reflective practiceMaintain and report math interventionist services using the identified reporting toolCreate and articulate a schedule with administrators of activities for instructional intervention, professional learning opportunities, and professional growth requirements that support mathematics instructionKeep abreast of and research best practices for math instruction, intervention, and enrichment in the assigned grade levelsAttend district level instructional, intervention, math content knowledge development sessions, and professional learning events to promote professional growthProvide support to teachers on the implementation of math instructional resources including manipulatives and technologyImplement a progress monitoring system for all students within intervention groups aligned with the District Response to Intervention plan for progress monitoringMaintain and submit documentation to support intervention activities that address the Comprehensive Needs Assessment which is included in the Campus Improvement Plan in compliance with Title IMeet regularly with campus instructional leaders to communicate program needs and plan support structures Other Key Responsibilities Address concerns and resolve issues promptly to support student success and instructional goalsEnsure the consistent and effective implementation of the written math curriculum with fidelityCollaborate with campus leadership to develop and manage schedules that prioritize student interventionsCollaborate with campus leadership to facilitate the administration of the district's mathematics screenerSupervisory ResponsibilitiesNoneQualification RequirementsTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each of the above essential duties satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essentials functions.Bachelor's degreeMaster's degree preferredValid Teaching Certification Issued by Texas Educaiton Agency appropriate to subject and grade level of assignmentMinimum of 3 years of experience as a Math classroom teacherKnowledge of and training on the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS), elementary math curriculum, and best practices in math instructionProven knowledge of Guided Math instruction and use of manipulatives to develop conceptual understanding for math studentsDemonstrated evidence of professional growth, including leadership or participation in a wide range of professional learning experiencesDemonstrated communication skills and interpersonal skills that promote collaboration and effective communication with adultsComprehensive knowledge of instructional strategies, data for decision making, intervention and enrichment strategies, student assessment, and use of instructional technologyStrong organizational and classroom management skillsPhysical Requirements/Working ConditionsThe work environment characteristics and physical demands described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. May work prolonged or irregular hours and must be able to maintain emotional control under stress.Additional InformationThis position may require travel to various campuses, district meeting sites and conferences/meetings in and out of state. This position may require the employee to work some nights and weekends.This position is grant funded through Title 1. This position may be discontinued if funds are no longer available.
