The department reviews applications as positions become available.\n\nAdjunct positions are offered on a semester‑by‑semester basis with no guarantee of continued employment.\n\nResponsibilities\n\nParticipates in and completes all requirements of Apprenticeship program.\n\nMeets with FT faculty mentor on scheduled basis.\n\nFollows the English course curriculum outline, prepares and delivers lectures and other classroom activities.\n\nKeeps accurate classroom records.\n\nCoordinates Student ADA accommodation requests following college policy and procedures.\n\nAnswers student questions and provides necessary feedback on student progress.\n\nSupports the English department assessment initiatives.\n\nMeets College and department deadlines and evaluates student work in a timely manner, including submitting final grades on time.\n\nCompletes all required trainings.\n\nDemonstrates and supports professional commitment to division, school, and college mission and values.\n\nBecomes familiar with, and abides by, all college policies with immediate priority given to those policies that govern interactions with colleagues, staff, administrators, and departments throughout the organization.\n\nMaintains professional etiquette in communications with students, staff, faculty, and administrators.\n\nProvides appropriate and timely feedback for all assignments.\n\nReturns graded assignments in a timely fashion per department standards.\n\nMaintains student attendance records (for Financial Aid purposes) and grades.\n\nConducts a variety of appropriate evaluations of student performance.\n\nInforms students of progress‑to‑date periodically and assigns and submits grades by published deadlines.\n\nAssists in maintaining a safe and mutually respectful instructional environment.\n\nPrepares and submits incident reports to Dean of Student Services for inappropriate student behavior as defined by the Code of Student Rights and Responsibilities Policy.\n\nMaintains professional and collegial behavior.\n\nHandles/responds to student concerns/complaints, and responds to student communications and inquiries promptly (generally within 1‑2 days).\n\nMaintains professional appearance as defined by the discipline and/or College procedure.\n\nCompletes all required employee trainings.\n\nKnows and enforces FERPA guidelines.\n\nProvides ADA accommodations as requested.\n\nOfficial transcripts are required for those who are offered employment within 30 days of hire.\n\nKnowledge, Skills & Abilities\nAbility to communicate effectively with a broad range of people with a variety of abilities and backgrounds, to maintain good working relationships across the College.\n\nAbility to work with all groups from a variety of academic, socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds, and with community college students, faculty, and staff, including those with disabilities.\n\nAll Faculty will maintain an on‑site campus presence to encourage in‑person relationships and create engaging, meaningful, and impactful learning experiences unless approved for on‑line only courses.\n\nYou are employed as an Adjunct Faculty member/Instructor on a contract‑to‑contract basis, with no future expectation or obligation for employment.
