For more information, click here.\r\nThe Role:\r\nThe Assistant Estimator is responsible for assisting with all aspects of estimating including pre-construction, hard bids, negotiated bids, budgets, systems studies and comparisons, value engineering, subcontractor relations and staying abreast of industry developments applicable to estimating.\r\nResponsibilities:\r\nSubcontractor Solicitation & Selection:\r\nFollow up with subs regarding bidding and update the subcontractor bid list.\r\nUnderstand a scope of work prepared by an Estimator or Senior Estimator and provide scoping assistance.\r\nWrite and send out an Invitation to Bid.\r\nSubcontractor Relationships & Feedback:\r\nAssist the Estimator in keeping subcontractors up to date with project information and addenda during the bidding process.\r\nSend out documents, bid clarifications and addenda to subs.\r\nReceive sub RFI's and transmit to Estimators.\r\nPreconstruction, Conceptual and Design Build Estimating:\r\nAssist the Estimator with basic quantity take offs.\r\nHard Bid Estimating:\r\nAssist the Estimator with basic quantity take offs.\r\nAssist the Estimator and Senior Estimator on bid day\r\nCall subcontractors for pricing\r\nCheck the fax machines and mail boxes for bids and distribute bids to the Estimators.\r\nCreate transmittals for the printer.\r\nPrepare bid packages to be sent to the subs.\r\nPrepare trade spread sheets and list scope of work with the project Estimator(s).\r\nLog in sub pricing to the bid spread sheets.\r\nParticipate in sub scope review meetings.\r\nParticipate in project walkthroughs as required.\r\nPost Bid Activities:\r\nAssist the Estimating Coordinator, after the bid goes in, with organizing the bid box and checking to make sure that each sub is entered into the S4 database.\r\nTurn Over Meetings:\r\nAssist the Estimator and Senior Estimator in compiling the Turn Over Meeting package\r\nExhibit B & Scope Sheets:\r\nAssist in developing Exhibit Bs\r\nAttend weekly staff meetings\r\nReport on status of assignments\r\nAttend Training classes as required:\r\nQualifications:\r\nBachelors Degree, preferably in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture or related field\r\n2-5 years of experience in MEP Estimating or equivalent; Electrical Estimating experience preferred.\r\nWorking knowledge of Excel spread sheets, and Word processing programs.\r\nExperience with estimating software such as Intellibid, Accubid, Timberline, OST, MC2\r\nKnowledge of the contents of each CSI section.\r\nAbility to read & interpret blue prints in order to understand the scope of work at SD, DD and CD phases of design.\r\nAbility to coordinate construction document plans, details and specifications.\r\nAbility to apply CD details to a conceptual set of documents to capture all cost impacts of the details.\r\nWhile performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit for long periods of time; talk or hear; perform fine motor, hand and finger skills in the use of a keyboard, telephone, or writing. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; and reach with arms and/or hands. Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus. The employee will spend their time in an office environment with a quiet to moderate noise level.
