The facility has a 15-bed hospital with an 8-bed emergency department. It is a designated pathway facility with imaging rooms that include one ultrasound room and bedside capabilities. The minimum requirement is 5 years of ultrasound experience. First-time travelers are welcome if they have the required experience. Patient demographic includes mostly adults with a few pediatric cases. Common procedures include gallstones, pancreatitis, testicular issues, hernias, ovarian torsion, ectopic pregnancies, extremities with DVT studies, and carotid exams. The average daily census ranges from 10 to 12 scans. Candidates should possess a required license and national certifications. Key skills include experience with the aforementioned patient types, early OB scans, abdominal scans, and Dopplers. The ultrasound technologist must be comfortable working independently as the sole ultrasound technician on shift. There will be no interventions, biopsies, or special procedures performed. Soft skills are essential for effective communication with patients, particularly those from lower socioeconomic backgrounds. A patient service representative will be available to check patients in. Respiratory therapy is provided 24/7. An emergency department physician is on site 24/7, while a radiologist will read scans offsite and can be consulted via phone. Other radiology staff will be available for patient support when needed. A manager or supervisor will be accessible on-site. Preferred technology includes EMR systems like EPIC and PACS systems like Phillips VUE. The primary equipment used is Siemens Sequoia. The shift is Tuesday through Friday, from 0900 to 1900, with no regular weekend rotation unless coverage is needed. The ultrasound technologist will be on call for 1-2 nights per week with a 45-minute response time for emergencies. Holiday work is expected if it falls within the scheduled shifts. Requests for time off should go through the manager. Overtime may be available if desired. Recommended housing options include nearby towns.
