The Commodities Team Member works independently to ensure the delivery, receipt and coordination of customer orders. To fill orders and receive inventory, this person will use a forklift or manually lift pipe from warehouse shelves or cuts wire to customer specifications, picks conduit, receives commodity items, and unloads trucks. This individual prepares the product for delivery to customers and/or other branch locations by palletizing, banding and labeling the product and works in conjunction with the Commodities Team Lead and other team members to ensure all customer orders are completed in an efficient manner while maintaining high levels of accuracy and safety. This individual promotes our culture, our 5 P’s and our purpose to be our customer’s competitive advantage.\nKey Responsibilities & Essential Functions:\nPick and prepare customer pipe and wire in an efficient and accurate manner based on department procedures\nReceive and unload commodities from delivery trucks\nUtilize forklift equipment to properly locate inventory throughout warehouse\nPrepares product for delivery to customers and/or other branch locations by palletizing, banding, labeling and staging of material\nProperly secure, ship and load material for customer delivery\nAccurately maintain commodities inventory, including reporting of inventory discrepancies\nDaily maintenance, cleanliness, and organization of equipment and tools\nAdhere to all company safety policies and initiatives\nAssist in maintaining distribution center cleanliness and order\nCross-train in other departments as needed\nSupport team members by participating in team lifts\nParticipate in commodities team process improvements\nProvide coverage in areas of the distribution center in which staffing is low and work level is high\nRequirements:\nCritical Success Factors:\nAbility to learn, grow, and adapt to change\nAbility to work collaboratively with all areas of the distribution center\nAbility to analyze work load and establish priorities with time sensitive deadlines\nExcellent customer service orientation\nWillingness to give and receive constructive feedback\nStrong attention to detail\nAbility to stay on task and work efficiently\nAbility to maintain a positive attitude and solid work ethic\nExecute duties with the highest regard for safety, continuous improvement and cost reduction\nAbility to successfully work independently and in a team environment\nStrong communication skills\nSelf motivated with strong problem solving ability\nDrive for continuous improvement\nDetail oriented\nDependable\nJob Requirements/Specifications:\nHigh school diploma or GED required\nPrevious distribution center experience preferred\nAbility to lift 100 lbs on a consistent basis\nAbility to operate lift truck equipment\nAbility to stand and walk for long periods of time\nAbility to work an extended shift to complete work tasks as needed\nDemonstrated computer skills\nKnowledge of Eclipse preferred\nKnowledge of handheld RF scanner is a plus\nWork Environment & Physical Demands:\nConsistently working alone, non-standard shift work, extended day\nFrequently sitting, standing, walking, lifting, carrying, pushing, bending at the waist, twisting upper body, reaching, working with hands, working with fingers, talking, hearing, vision acuity near, vision acuity far, depth perception, field of vision, vision adjustment, color vision, driving, team lifting, cold, heat, temperature changes, work indoors,\nSome climbing, balancing, kneeling, crouching, work with others, customer contact, wet, humid, noise, work outdoors, mechanical hazards\nOccasional crawling, vibration, confined area, high places, fumes, odors, dusts, mists, gases, poor ventilation\nThe above statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by an incumbent.
