The Technical Writer will perform complex and unique engineering support assignments. This position requires the candidate to be responsible for performing activities involving the assembling and integration of military and commercial systems including modification of military platforms.\r\nResponsibilitiesThe Technical Writer performs undersea sensor task assignments that are not completely standardized or prescribed, selects or adapts standard procedures or equipment, using fully applicable precedents, receives initial instructions, equipment requirements, and advice from supervisor or engineer as needed, performs recurring work independently. Work is reviewed for technical adequacy (or conformity with instructions). This technician performs at this level one or a combination of such typical duties as:\r\nFollowing specific layouts, procedures, drawings, or scientific diagrams to assist in updating technical manuals and engineering change proposals (ECPs)\r\nExtracting and compiling a variety of engineering data from field notes, manuals, lab reports, processing data, identifying errors or inconsistencies, selecting methods of data presentation.\r\nAssisting in design modification by compiling data related to design, specifications, and materials that are pertinent to specific items of undersea sensor equipment or component parts; developing information concerning previous operational failures and modifications and using judgment and initiative to recognize inconsistencies or gaps in data and seek sources to clarify information.\r\nHazard Analysis\r\nSOP Writing\r\nMaintaining records.\r\nParticipation in Validation / Verification Events\r\nDocumentation of system analysis, prototyping, system design, preproduction and fabrication\r\nOther duties as assigned.\r\nQualificationsBachelor's degree is required and a minimum of two (2) to five (5+) years of experience\r\nPrevious experience supporting NSWC Crane is preferred\r\nIntermediate level skills in Microsoft Office software suite - Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint\r\nAbility to communicate effectively with all levels of employees and outside contacts\r\nStrong interpersonal skills and good judgment with the ability to work alone or as part of a team\r\nPhysical Demands:\r\nMust be able to lift up to 15 to 25 pounds\r\nMust be able to stand and walk for prolonged amounts of time\r\nMust be able to twist, bend and squat periodically\r\nSECURITY CLEARANCE REQUIRED: Must be able to obtain a security clearance at the Secret level however candidates with an Active Secret clearance are preferred.
