Candidate may be required to work 16 hr shift as neededFL-DOH-Chattahoochee-LPN - Candidates will need to attend an full two week orientation, working Monday - Friday, 8am - 4:30pmPay Rate: BR/hr / Vendor Rate: BR/hr (Candidates will be considered who exceed the established State of Florida rate card)WORK ENVIORNMENT: This is a State of Florida Psychiatric Hospital which operates 24/7, 7 days a week. It currently has 223 buildings on campus with a capacity of 1,042 patients. The hospital's current Administration Building is on the National Register of Historic Places.TYPE OF PATIENTS: Two categories of patients are treated at the hospital; those civilly committed under Statute 394, who represent a small portion of the hospital's residents; and those forensically committed under Statute 916. The Civil portion of the hospital houses adult and elderly individuals who have been civilly committed to the hospital, and forensic residents who have been "stepped down" to the civil unit. The civil units are also known as Forensic Transition units.Forensic ward entry has security guards and a metal detector.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:* Mustbe at least 18 years of age at time of hire.* Musthold unencumbered licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse.* Oneyear of nursing experience, strongly preferred.* Mustbe CPR certified, or able to complete training.* Mustbe able to complete full orientation at time of hire.* Must be able to fulfill physical requirements of position including ability to liftand carry 20 lbs., remain alert while on duty, and work 16-hour shifts onoccasion.CANDIDATE RESPONSIBILITIES:* Assess resident complaints and determineaction, notifying supervisor when necessary.* Admitand transfer residents to and from other units or outside sources.* Administeroral and/or injectable medication and controlled medications in accordance withfacility policy, and within their scope of practice as defined by Florida law.* Observefor side effects or adverse effects to medication and report to assignedsupervisor, or further assessment and treatment.* Preparepaperwork as required for consults within facility and outside appointments.* Coordinateresidents' appointments with unit staff to ensure medications are appropriatelytimed as need for resident movement to and from the unit.* Provideemergency medical/psychiatric treatment within scope of practice as defined byfacility and Florida law and notifying supervisor for further assistance.* Completeincident reports factually and objectively, within the appropriate time frameas defined by the facility.* Completeprogress notes on resident care within the appropriate time frame as defined bythe facility.* Advocatefor residents' recovery and safety.* Maintain appropriate and professionalbehavior during interactions with residents', supervisors, and other staffmembers.* Display professionalism throughoutemployment including, but not limited to, arriving to work on time, maintainingan accurate timesheet, and maintaining professional appearance as defined byfacility policy.Required/Desired SkillsSkillRequired /DesiredAmountof ExperienceAbility to speak and understand EnglishRequired0Ability to pass a level 2 fingerprintingRequired0Must have a current State of Florida Licensed Practical Nurse licenseRequired0Must have 1 year acute or 2 years clinical experience working as an LPNRequired1YearsMust have current CPR/ACLS certification or able to complete once hiredRequired0Ability to preform Interventions with combative persons may be requiredRequired0Able to lift and carry 25 lbsRequired0Ability to stay alert for up to a 16-hour shiftRequired0Ability to push, pull, ben, stoop and kneel Required0Questions
