There is no existing engineering team.The Role As AmericUrn grows, we need better visibility into our business - how orders are moving, where inventory stands, what the fulfillment team needs to act on, and how production is tracking against demand. Right now, this information lives across spreadsheets and third-party platforms. We want to consolidate it into purpose-built internal applications that our small team can use daily. You will design and build these applications from the ground up. That means a backend that pulls data from our systems, a frontend that presents it clearly, and the infrastructure to keep it running reliably. This is applied software engineering on real business problems, with direct access to the person who can make decisions.What You Will BuildAn order monitoring dashboard - real-time visibility into order status, fulfillment progress, shipping updates, and exception alertsAn inventory management interface - current stock levels, low-stock alerts, reorder triggers, and product variant trackingA production tracking tool - monitor handcrafted urn production stages, engraving queue status, and throughput against incoming ordersBackend APIs that connect to our existing systems - pulling data from our eCommerce platform, shipping providers, and internal recordsA simple authentication and access control layer so only authorized team members can view and act on each applicationAutomated alerts and notifications - email or in-app triggers when thresholds are breached or actions are requiredDocumentation and handoff materials so the tools can be maintained and extended over timeWhat We Are Looking ForDegree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field - Master's degree is preferredStrong grasp of full-stack development: comfortable with both frontend UI and backend API workExperience or solid coursework in React (or a similar frontend framework) and a server-side language such as Node.js or PythonComfortable designing and querying a relational database - understanding of schemas, joins, and data modellingAble to integrate with third-party APIs - reading documentation, handling authentication, and parsing responsesSelf-directed - can take a brief and turn it into a working application without needing step-by-step directionClear communicator - you will be explaining what you built and why to a non-technical founderWilling to work hands-on with our team on the ground to understand their day-to-day processes and build software that genuinely improves how they workComfortable using AI tools as part of their development processTechnologies Stack is flexible and will be decided together.
