Advanced Patient Care Technician (PCT) - Ortho/Med-SurgThe Advanced Patient Care Technician (PCT) plays a vital role in delivering compassionate care to patients under the guidance of physicians and nursing staff. This position requires timely and accurate documentation in line with healthcare policies and the ability to provide care across a broad patient age range, from newborns to geriatrics.Essential Responsibilities:Perform patient care duties as outlined in unit-specific competencies, policies, and procedures.Adhere to privacy and security regulations concerning Protected Health Information (PHI).Maintain professional communication and collaborative relationships with patients, families, healthcare teams, and external agencies.Complete other assigned duties as necessary.Education and Experience:Certification as a Medical Assistant (MA), Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), Emergency Medical Technician (EMT), or Home Health Aide (HHA) within the relevant state, or completion of at least one semester of nursing school.Current Basic Life Support (BLS)/CPR certification prior to engaging in patient care activities.Successful completion of on-the-job training in sterile technique, sterile field maintenance, instrument care/handling (including obstetrics and surgery), as well as EKG and phlebotomy training (emergency department).Preferred Qualifications:Previous experience in a medical environment.Phlebotomy Technician (PBT) certification (ASCP) is a plus.Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:Basic to moderate computer skills, including use of telesitter technology.Effective communication skills and a solid understanding of medical terminology.Ability to remain calm under pressure and demonstrate empathy and compassion in patient care.Physical Requirements:Ability to perform very heavy work, occasionally lifting over 100 lbs and frequently lifting up to 50 lbs.Standing or walking for 75-100% of the workday, with or without accommodation.This role offers competitive pay and a supportive work environment within a regional healthcare setting serving the Central Plains region of the United States.
