Candidates must have structural welding experience and successfully complete the required welding qualification test.\n\nWeld Test Requirements\n\nCandidates will complete a 2G groove-weld coupon within a two-hour time limit.\n\nThe qualification process includes:\n\n1. Test Preparation\n\nCandidate identity and test coupon will be verified.\nWPS, machine calibration, joint geometry, root opening, bevel angle, tack welds, shielding gas, and flow rate will be checked.\n\n2. Welding Test\n\nComplete the 2G groove-weld coupon within the two-hour time limit.\nActual voltage, amperage, wire-feed speed, shielding gas, and gas flow will be recorded.\n\n3. Visual Examination\n\nThe completed coupon must pass visual examination in accordance with applicable AWS D1.1 requirements and SI Utility procedures.\nThe weld may be rejected for unacceptable cracks, incomplete fusion, overlap, undercut, porosity, arc strikes, or unacceptable weld profile/dimensions.\n\n4. Guided Bend Testing\n\nOnly coupons that pass the visual examination will proceed to guided bend testing.\nSpecimen type, quantity, preparation, and acceptance criteria will follow the applicable AWS D1.1 requirements and SI Utility procedures.\n\n5.
