Anticipated: Teacher-Welding GENERAL STATEMENT OF JOB: The Career and Technical Institute at Dutchess Boces is seeking a qualified and enthusiastic High School Welding Teacher to teach in our Career and Technical Education (CTE) program. Our Welding program prepares students in 11th and 12th grade for postsecondary education, industry certification, and entry-level employment in welding and related skilled trades. The curriculum is expected to be aligned with the American Welding Society (AWS) standards and replicate a business model to prepare students for transition into the industry. TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Full-time, 10-month, tenure track assignment. Competitive salary; negotiable based on qualifications and experience. Full complement of health benefits REPORTS TO: Principal SUPERVISES: N/A QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND COMPETENCIES: Valid state CTE teaching certification or eligibility to obtain AWS certification(s) Preferred Five (5) or more years of recent industry experience in welding or metal fabrication (or equivalent combination of education and experience) Demonstrated knowledge of welding processes, tools, and safety standards Ability to work effectively with high school–aged students KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Have experience with and can provide instruction in welding theory and hands-on skills, including: o SMAW (Stick), GMAW (MIG), GTAW (TIG), and FCAW (as applicable) o Experience with Blueprint reading, measurements, and weld symbols o Understanding of welding safety, OSHA practices, and proper equipment use o Various aspects of metal fabrication Plan and deliver engaging, standards-aligned lessons based on NYS CTE frameworks Maintain a safe, clean, and well-organized welding lab Supervise students and enforce all safety procedures Assess student learning and maintain accurate academic and skill-based records Support students in earning industry-recognized certifications Collaborate with counselors, administrators, and colleagues Participate in professional development, advisory committee meetings, and school events Provide work-based learning opportunities for students on and off-site through collaboration with industry partners.
