Child Supporr Officer II-Temporary
DescriptionThe incumbent in this temporary position will be primarily responsible performing routine (journey-level) childsupport work. Work involves conducting investigations, enforcing court orders of child support, preparing casedocumentation, and monitoring cases. Work under moderate supervision, with limited latitude for the use ofinitiative and independent judgment.The ideal candidate will be able to: conduct investigations; review and assesses cases to developimplementation strategies and determines appropriate subsequent actions; monitor child support payments andrefers delinquent cases for appropriate enforcement action. Prepares various documents relating to legal or otheractions necessary to establish or enforce a court order for child support. Respond to inquiries concerning casestatus. Explain program policies, procedures, and regulations to parents through individual interviews orseminars. Attends court with legal staff to update legal documents and assist in negotiations. Performs related work as assigned.Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:Knowledge of child support laws, policies, principles, and practices; and of investigative practices andtechniques.Skill in interviewing and in conducting investigations, in basic mathematics, and in the operation of computersand applicable computer software.Skill in handling multiple tasks, prioritizing, and meeting deadlines.Skill in effective oral and written communication.Skill in exercising sound judgement and effective decision-making.Ability to analyze, interpret, and evaluate information; and to communicate effectively.Ability to work cooperatively with others in professional office environment.Ability to provide excellent customer service.Ability to type 35 words per minute (Typing test required at time of interview).Minimum Qualifications: Qualified individuals must have a high school diploma or GED; plus 6 monthsto a year of related experience in interviewing and collections related to child support.
