The Press Assistant role is responsible for the set up and support of printing presses in accordance with the printing specifications and customer requirements/expectations. Our primary need is currently 2nd & 3rd Shift.\n\nWhy work at MCC:\n\nCompensation: Starting at $22.59 hourly\nShift Differential: 2nd Shift: $1.25/hr , 3rd Shift: $1.25/hr\nBenefits Package: including medical, dental, vision, disability, life insurance and 401(k)\nPaid Holidays: New Years, Memorial Day, Fourth of July, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, Day after Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, plus two floating holidays.\nResponsibilities\n\nComply with all company and safety policies and procedures.\nAttain and maintain all defined job objectives related to the planning and execution of all jobs and quick changes.\nReview job bags for changes, special instructions, cylinder size, and other pertinent production information.\nAssist in the performance of all external make-ready operations in preparation for changeover activities (changing from one label job to another).\nAssist in the performance of all external clean-up activities following changeover.\nPlate mounting, including the ability to mount own plates, verify plates, registration, and unwind position prior to placement in the press.\nClean ink pans and ancillary equipment.\nStrip plates from cylinders.\nLocate dies to and from press.\nAssist the Press Operator as required.\nAssist the Press Operator in coordinating press maintenance activities to maximize quality and minimize downtime.\nMaintain general supplies and keep chemical bottles, jugs, and containers filled and properly labeled.\nComplete and maintain cleanliness of the press, press area, plate and die area, floors, and facility.\nPerform general housekeeping duties.\nMay be required to work with the Press Operator to view labels with the assistance of a strobe light.\nComply with quality assurance specifications of the customer and MCC.\nMay be required to complete quality assurance sheets and associated documentation.\nResponsible for cleanliness of machinery and organization of the workspace.\nResponsible for working overtime when needed and as assigned.\nRelated duties as assigned by the Press Operator, Supervisor, or Manager.\nQualifications\n\nHigh school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.\nPrint shop experience helpful, but not required.\nAbility to communicate and interact well with others verbally and in written form; seen as a team player.\nAbility to read and understand a job ticket.\nAbility to read a ruler and understand measurements (able to pass a ruler test).\nAbility correctable to 20/20 (able to pass an eye test).\nAbility to differentiate colors (able to pass a color test).\nAbility to input data into computer systems.\nAbility to work in a team environment with a high sense of urgency for on-time completion of assigned activities.\nSelf-motivated with the ability to stay focused and follow instructions.\nAssertive and solution-focused.\nAbility to prioritize, multi-task, and work in a fast-paced environment.\nTraining is on day shift for the first two weeks.\nBusy season (March–September) may include overtime, including weekends.\nPhysical Requirements:\n\nAbility to stand and move around the press area for long periods of time.\nFrequent walking required.\nOccasionally required to climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.\nMust be able to regularly lift or move up to 50 pounds.\nThis role includes lifting around 35 pounds with some heavier equipment often.\nAbility to use hands to feel and touch, reach with hands and arms, talk, and hear.\nAbility to work safely around moving machinery and production equipment.\nVision Requirements:\n\nVision correctable to 20/20 if required.\nAbility to differentiate colors.\nSpecific vision requirements include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.\nInternal Candidates:\n\nSatisfactory attendance record required.\nDiversity & Inclusion:\nMCC fosters an inclusive culture that respects and embraces our teammates’ diverse backgrounds and experiences, so that everyone can achieve their full potential here.
