Payroll Specialist

ApplyJob TypeFull-timeDescriptionIn this role, you will be a key team member supporting all functions related to payroll, including processing semi-monthly and monthly payroll. You will also be responsible for processing leaves of absence, salary changes and benefits, and calculating and filing payroll taxes. The ideal candidate would be highly organized with critical attention to details, along with good time and priority management, be proficient in Excel and possess analytical skills with an affinity for math and spreadsheets. As a member of our Accounting team, your job would involve:Processing semi-monthly and monthly payroll for 3800+ employees across 4 states; Calculating the correct amount incorporating overtime, deductions, bonuses etc. with the assistance of a computer systemLearning the internal Payroll System, “STEPS”Understanding the workflow of the Payroll cycle and using the STEPS system appropriatelyDemonstrating Payroll knowledge through the quality and quantity of workProcessing parental leaves, leaves of absence, time without pay, and terminationsProcessing changes in schedules, health insurance, taxes, and other informationCoordinating employee raises monthly Calculating and filing state and federal payroll tax payments Coordinating the distribution of year-end tax documentsMaintaining and documenting all payroll records and staff members’ personnel filesReceiving approval from upper management for payments when neededProcessing salary changes, deductions, bonuses, vacations payouts, and benefits payments for staff membersWorking with outside companies to complete employment verifications for past and current employeesResponding to payroll queries from staff members in a timely mannerAnalyzing payroll issues and recommending corrective actionsMaintaining confidentiality; protecting staff members’ data as identified in state and federal laws and internal controls.RequirementsBachelor's or associate degree with coursework in accounting preferred and/or 2-3 years of applicable work or military experiencePrevious accounting/payroll experienceGeneral knowledge of accounting cycleStrong analytical and problem solving skills, numerical aptitudeAbility to interact effectively with all levels of managementStrong attention to detailExceptional organizational skillsExceptional written and verbal communication skillsAbility to multitask in a fast-paced environment.Hiring salary range: $57,600 - $69,600 per year.Actual salary will be determined based on an individual's skills, experience, education, and other job-related factors permitted by law.MEDITECH offers competitive employee benefits including but not limited to health, dental, & vision insurance; profit sharing trust and 401(k); tuition reimbursement, generous paid time off, sick days, personal time, and paid holidays.This is a hybrid role which includes a blend of in-office and remote work as designated by the management team.In compliance with federal law, all persons hired will be required to verify identity and eligibility to work in the United States and to complete the required employment eligibility verification form upon hire.
