Curriculum Instructional Specialist

General Definition of WorkThe curriculum instructional specialist, under moderate supervision, performs instructional programs support work with limited decision-making designing, implementing, and continuously improving educational curriculum content while aligning to state standards. This position will monitor state requirements and support the instructional specialists by creating professional learning content and materials. Employee performs school based and district level work to carry out Board of Education policies and procedures as an expert curriculum instructional specialist under the direction of the assigned Director or Executive Director.QualificationsTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily. Charlotte- Mecklenburg Schools reserves the right to require you to work at such other place(s) as it may reasonably require from time to time.Essential FunctionsAdhere to all state, federal, and local laws, policies, and proceduresCollaborate with subject matter experts and educators to develop comprehensive curriculum materials for various academic subjects and grade levelsConduct research to identify best practices, emerging trends, and innovative approaches to curriculum developmentDesign curriculum frameworks, scope and sequence documents, lesson plans, assessments, and instructional resources that align with educational standards and learning objectivesApply principles of instructional design to create engaging and interactive learning experiencesIncorporate multimedia, technology-enhanced learning tools, and other resources to support various learning styles and preferencesDevelop instructional strategies, activities, and assessments that promote active learning, critical thinking, and problem-solving skillsImplement training and support systems with educators on curriculum implementation, instructional strategies, and assessment techniquesFacilitate workshops, seminars, and professional learning communities to enhance educators' pedagogical skills and content knowledgeCollaborate with school leaders to identify professional development needs and tailor training programs accordinglyCollaborate with other district stakeholders to develop cohesive professional learning content aligned to the district strategic planCollect and analyze data on curriculum effectiveness, student learning outcomes, and teacher feedbackUse assessment data to identify areas for improvement and revise curriculum materialsStay informed about changes in educational standards, curriculum frameworks, and assessment practices, and update curriculum documents accordinglyCollaborate with teachers, administrators, parents, and community members to gather input and feedback on curriculum initiativesBuild positive relationships with stakeholders and foster a collaborative culture focused on continuous improvementCommunicate effectively with audiences to articulate the rationale, goals, and benefits of curriculum changes and instructional practicesFacilitate professional development and attend other related meetings as needed/requiredParticipate in professional development workshops and leadership trainingCreate a collaborative environment with positive communicationPerform related work as assigned or required
