Founded in 2025, the company has raised $12 million and grown to a 15-person team focused on building the operational and financial systems that support mission-critical hardware production.The company is developing a clean-slate product in a sector experiencing significant investment, providing engineers with an opportunity to make a meaningful impact while helping shape a modern ERP platform from the ground up.## About the RoleThe company is seeking a backend-focused Full-Stack Engineer to architect and build the data models, APIs, and services powering new finance and accounting capabilities.You will apply experience from ERP, fintech, or accounting software environments to develop greenfield functionality from technical design through deployment. The role will help expand the platform from operational inventory and supply-chain management into a comprehensive financial reporting system.While backend engineering will be your primary focus, you will also contribute to the React frontend when needed.### Key Responsibilities* Design data models for invoicing, payments, P&L reporting, and other complex financial workflows.* Build client-facing APIs connecting the platform with HR, payroll, accounting, and other external systems.* Architect backend services using Python and FastAPI with PostgreSQL.* Make thoughtful architectural decisions between OLAP and OLTP approaches based on product requirements.* Aggregate operational data with labor, subscription, and financial inputs to produce reliable reporting.* Own substantial features end to end, from technical design and database schema decisions through deployment and iteration.* Contribute to the React frontend when required while maintaining primary ownership of backend systems.* Collaborate with domain stakeholders to translate finance and accounting requirements into scalable software solutions.### Required Qualifications* 3–7 years of backend or full-stack engineering experience building production systems, with 5+ years preferred.* Strong proficiency in Python, FastAPI, PostgreSQL, and GraphQL.* Professional experience in ERP, fintech, or accounting software.* Experience designing data models for invoicing, payments, financial reporting, or related financial workflows.* Strong database schema design skills.* Practical understanding of OLAP and OLTP architectural trade-offs.* Proven ability to drive greenfield features from technical design through deployment.* Strong understanding of accounting and finance concepts.* Ability to collaborate directly with business and domain stakeholders.### Preferred Qualifications* Experience designing clean, client-facing APIs for integrations with HR, payroll, or accounting platforms.* Familiarity with Docker and containerized development.* Experience with CI/CD practices and tooling.* Experience with React.* Familiarity with WebSockets.* Experience working in defense technology or manufacturing software.### Compensation and Equity* Base salary: $170,000–$230,000 per year.* Potential salary flexibility for exceptional candidates.* Competitive early-employee equity.### Work Arrangement* Full-time position.* Open to candidates based in the United States, with a preference for West Coast candidates.* Remote employees participate in quarterly team on-sites in San Diego.* Candidates based in San Diego are expected to work from the office three days per week.* Visa sponsorship is not available.* Candidates must be U.S. citizens or green card holders.## Equal OpportunityThe company is committed to providing equal employment opportunities and fostering an inclusive and respectful workplace.
