Material Sorter - 1st Shift

Job Description Description:The Material Sorter sorts scrap metal such as Aluminum, Wire and Brass. They will also feed material into equipment while maintaining a safe and organized work environment.Duties and ResponsibilitiesRecognize and organize different grades of materials appropriatelyPrepare material for the chopper, shredder, or baler to prepare for finished goods or next step in processingFeed material into the chopper or shredderTag material into finished goods inventoryMaintain a clean and organized working environmentPerform daily preventative maintenance on equipment, as requiredFollow dress code and ensure proper PPE is worn at all timesRequirements:Job Requirements/SkillsKnowledge of Non-Ferrous and Ferrous metalsAbility to sort materials by hand or using hand toolsAbility to shovel materialsAbility to work independently in the absence of direct supervisionEducation/ExperienceMaterial handling and sortingForklift, skid steer, or front-end loader experience preferredPhysical RequirementsStanding for long periods of timeAble to lift 50 lbs. continuouslyAble to shovel heavy materialsTolerate a dusty environmentExposure to physical operations in scrap recycling facilities, including walking/climbing in active industrial yards with uneven surfaces in inclement weather
