You will lead globally distributed engineering teams while remaining close to the code, architecture decisions, and delivery outcomes. You will partner closely with Product, Operations, and Franchise teams to build scalable, resilient systems that support the full rental lifecycle — from reservation to return.\n\nYou will help define how Hertz builds software: modern architectures, engineering culture, delivery excellence, and platform reliability at global scale.\n\nWhat you will do:\n\nLead the design, build, and modernization of global consumer & rental systems supporting multi-brand, multi-country, and franchise operations\nOwn the future-state architecture for rental platforms, ensuring scalability, configurability, and regulatory compliance across regions\nCollaborate with cross functional leaders on your product teams (product management, design) to develop and execute backlogs & roadmaps\nRemain hands-on through architecture reviews, technical design, and selective pairing with senior engineers\nBuild and lead high-performing global engineering teams (onshore, nearshore, offshore)\nDevelop engineering talent; drive career paths, rotations, and learning plans\nEstablish and evolve engineering standards: cloud-native patterns, APIs, event-driven systems, resiliency, and observability\nDrive a culture of ownership, quality, speed, and empathy\nEnsure platforms are secure, compliant, highly available, and operationally excellent\nCollaborate with enterprise architecture and platform teams to align on shared services and technology strategy\nStay current with new technology trends in the platform, AI, streaming and IoT space\nEnsure high quality, consistent, easy to use and compliance software solutions\n\nWhat We're Looking For:\n\n10+ years of Software Engineering experience designing and implementing solutions using cloud native technologies and Agile methodologies\nDemonstrated success with modern development practices including RESTful API & microservice development, AWS, containerization techniques (such as DEE and Kubernetes) NoSQL, build systems (Maven, Gradle) and version control (Git).\nExperience implementing enterprise integration / transformation patterns (abstract, surround, strangle) to integrate cloud native solutions with enterprise data sources & systems / (MQ, SOAP, XML)\nA pattern of success on teams using Agile Methodologies\nStrong communication skills and interest in a pair-programming environment\nBachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Electrical Engineering or related field.\n\nStarting salary is $175,000.
