Head Camp Nurse (Licensed RN or LPN) Summer 2026 | Residential Camp Leadership Role Location: Lake Como, Pennsylvania (On-Site June–August) Employment Type: Seasonal (Full Summer Commitment Required) Dates: June 8th until August 19th, 2026 Compensation & Living Package Estimated Salary Range: (RNs) $1,200–$1,500 per week (LPNs) $950–$1,200 per week Final compensation will be determined based on experience, leadership level, and family needs. No Pets Included: Private staff housing All Meals One full day off per week Daily personal time Laundry service Tuition discount for enrolled campers Free childcare for children under 6 About Our Camp Partner Our partner is an overnight camp located in the scenic Pocono Mountains of Pennsylvania. Each summer, we welcome over 300 campers and staff into a safe, joyful, and deeply connected community where children grow in confidence, independence, and lifelong friendships. The health center plays a central role in ensuring that every camper can thrive physically and emotionally throughout the summer season. The Opportunity We are seeking a strong, experienced nurse RN or LPN to serve as our Head Nurse for the full summer. This is not simply a camp nurse role. This is a leadership position overseeing the entire health center operation for a 300+ person residential community. The Head Nurse leads all medical decisions, while camp administration oversees business operations. We are looking for a collaborative professional who understands both authority and teamwork. Key Responsibilities Health Center Leadership Oversee daily operations of the camp infirmary (8-bed capacity) Supervise and schedule three nurses Manage your own and your team’s daily time off Receive one full day off per week Ensure the Health Center is fully operational beginning at pre-camp Medication & Clinical Oversight Coordinate with outside medication providers and pharmacies Manage medication roll call (approximately 30% of campers receive daily medication) Maintain accurate documentation in the camp’s online health system Conduct on-site testing (including strep and other basic diagnostics) Train staff in medical procedures including EpiPen administration Communicate with parents regarding health concerns as needed Emergency Preparedness Respond to medical concerns and emergencies calmly and decisively Oversee protocols for transfers to local medical facilities Work within established relationships with Wayne County emergency services Ambulance response time averages 25–30 minutes; preparedness is essential Coordinate with visiting physicians (5 of 7 weeks confirmed) When no doctor is physically on camp, an additional nurse will be scheduled for support Qualifications Registered Nurse License (RN) in good standing (required) OR LPN License 4+ years of professional nursing experience 3+ years of professional nursing experience with kids ages 6-17 Experience supervising or leading medical staff Comfortable training others in medical procedures Strong organizational and scheduling skills Ability to live and work in a residential camp environment This role may be especially appealing to: School nurses seeking meaningful summer work Pediatric nurses/LPNs seeking 8 weeks of stability Experienced RNs looking for leadership in a mission-driven setting What We’re Looking For This role requires someone who: Understands commitment to a full season Can prioritize the safety of 300+ campers and staff Makes clear medical decisions under pressure Maintains professionalism while living in community Wants to be at camp and contribute beyond clinical care
