The ideal candidate will drive technical solutions while mentoring globally distributed engineering teams and delivering scalable cloud-native applications.\nKey Responsibilities\nLead the design, development, and delivery of backend applications using Java 17+ and Spring Boot.\nDesign scalable RESTful APIs and microservices.\nBuild, deploy, test, and support cloud-native applications across the full SDLC.\nProvide technical leadership for globally distributed development teams.\nMentor engineers and promote engineering best practices, code quality, and DevOps culture.\nDevelop and maintain CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps or Jenkins.\nBuild solutions leveraging AWS services including API Gateway, Lambda, Fargate, S3, CloudFormation, CloudWatch, IAM, and ALB/NLB.\nWork with PostgreSQL and AWS DynamoDB.\nParticipate in architecture discussions, code reviews, and production support.\nCollaborate with Product Owners, Architects, and cross-functional teams in an Agile environment.\nRequired Qualifications\nBachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field.\n10+ years of backend Java development experience.\n3+ years leading geographically distributed engineering teams.\nStrong expertise in Java 17+, Spring Boot, and REST API development.\nHands-on AWS development experience, including:\nAPI Gateway\nLambda\nFargate\nS3\nCloudWatch\nIAM\nCloudFormation\nALB/NLB\nStrong DevOps experience with Azure DevOps or Jenkins.\nExperience with PostgreSQL and AWS DynamoDB.\nExperience with Scala is must\nStrong understanding of Agile/Scrum methodologies.\nPreferred Qualifications\nAI/ML project experience.\nMicroservices architecture.\nEvent-driven systems.\nEnterprise cloud modernization.\nFinancial Services or large enterprise application experience.\nLeadership Expectations\nLead and mentor engineering teams across the U.S., Eastern Europe, and Asia.\nGuide technical decisions and foster collaboration across distributed teams.\nDrive engineering excellence through code reviews, technical mentoring, and best practices.\nBalance hands-on development with technical leadership.\nTop Required Skills\nJava 17+\nScala\nSpring Boot & REST APIs\nAWS Cloud Development\nDevOps (Azure DevOps/Jenkins)\nTechnical Leadership of Global Teams\nSoft Skills\nExcellent communication and stakeholder management.\nStrong leadership and mentoring skills.\nAbility to work effectively across global time zones.\nStrong analytical and problem-solving skills.\nPassion for technology and continuous improvement.\nWork Environment\nHybrid schedule (minimum 2 days onsite in Chicago).\nCollaborate with globally distributed engineering teams.\nReady to make an impact?
