Network Engineer, Level 3
What You Will DoAt Independent Software, as a Network Engineer Level 3, you will design, implement, and support enterprise network infrastructure across complex environments using Cisco and Arista technologies. In this role, you will help optimize network performance, support secure communications, and ensure compliance with SSP and STE/STN requirements while working alongside engineering teams to maintain reliable, scalable network operations.This role offers hands-on work with modern networking technologies, performance optimization, and infrastructure modernization initiatives. Some travel may be required, and participation in on-call operational support is expected.Key ResponsibilitiesConfigure, deploy, and sustain Cisco and Arista network infrastructureSupport LAN, CAN, and WAN environments including performance optimization and troubleshootingApply SSP compliance and STE/STN security requirements to network devicesDesign and implement network solutions including VPNs, firewalls, load balancing, VoIP, NAT, IPSec, and GRE tunnelingMonitor network performance, minimize latency, and optimize data throughputSupport network upgrades, cutovers, and infrastructure modernization effortsMaintain network documentation, diagrams, and accreditation requirementsCollaborate with system engineers, users, and operations teams to resolve network issuesProvide guidance to junior engineers and support operational continuityRequired Skills And QualificationsSignificant experience with Cisco and Arista configuration, deployment, and sustainmentExperience supporting enterprise LAN, CAN, and WAN networking environmentsFamiliarity with LatteArt and applying SSP, STE, and STN compliance requirements to network devicesStrong understanding of network security, routing, switching, and performance optimizationExperience with network protocols and technologies including VPNs, VoIP, IPSec, NAT, GRE tunneling, and traffic shapingAbility to troubleshoot complex network and infrastructure issues in mission-critical environmentsWillingness to travel as needed and participate in on-call operational supportStrong collaboration, communication, and technical documentation skillsEducation And ExperienceMaster’s degree in Computer Science, Information Assurance, Information Security Systems Engineering, or a related discipline from an accredited college or university and ten (10) years of relevant professional experience providing Network Engineering support; ORA Bachelor’s degree in System Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering Science, Engineering Management, or a related discipline from an accredited college or university and twelve (12) years of relevant professional Network Engineering experience; ORSixteen (16) years of relevant professional Network Engineering experience in lieu of a degree, along with an industry-recognized certification such as Arista Configuration Essentials, Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA), or a Juniper Certification Track (Automation & DevOps, Cloud, Data Center, Design, Enterprise Routing and Switching, Junos Security, or Service Provider Routing and Switching).CertificationsDoD Information Assurance Technical (IAT) Level III baseline certification required in accordance with DoD 8570.01-MClearance RequirementMust possess an active TS SCI with appropriate Polygraph to be considered for this roleWhy Choose Independent SoftwareAt Independent Software, our people are the mission.
