You will be responsible for designing, testing and maintaining electronics for cutting edge medical devices. You will work with experts from biology, microfabrication, optics, software in developing novel devices - clear communication and an eagerness and aptitude to understand implications of electronics design choices on those domains and vice versa is essential.\nRole responsibilities:\nArchitect, design and characterize electrical systems, generally at the PCB level, for advanced medical device applications\nElectronic device bring-up and characterization\nTest and qualification of electronic hardware especially PCB-As\nFeasibility investigation and prototype of new concepts\nClear documentation and communication of design and test work\nInterface and communication with cross-disciplinary teams including microfabrication, software, IC design, biology\nRequired qualifications:\nExperience in electronic system design using microcontrollers, microprocessors and FPGAs\nSkilled in PCB design using industry standard tools such as Altium, OrCAD etc\nStrong understanding of power management in battery powered systems\nFamiliarity with communication protocols (I2C, SPI, UART, SDIO, etc)\nExperience in power and size constrained system design\nSkilled in low noise analog sensor interface design\nAdept in modeling signal integrity, parasitic loading and crosstalk for sensing applications\nExperience with wireless system design and RF-aware PCB design\nAdept using tools for electronic system characterization including oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, logic analyzers etc.\nStrong circuit analysis and simulation skills\nExcellent communication and documentation skills\nBS in Electrical Engineering or a related field\nPreferred qualifications:\nExperience with camera and optical systems\nExperience with control of test equipment via Python\nUnderstanding of firmware development and in particular an ability to factor firmware development into part selection\nExperience in bringing up boards with high speed interfaces (PCIe, MIPI PHYs, DDR)\nPhD in Electrical Engineering or a related field\nSalary/Pay Range:\nFor individuals hired to work in California, Science is required by law to include a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. We determine your level based on your interview performance and make an offer based on geo-located salary bands. The base salary range for this full-time position is $95,000 – $140,000 + equity + benefits. Within the range, individual pay is determined by several factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
