You will lead a team of engineers that are developing a new cloud-native application that is the future of cloud-based data analysis and AI development. You will also lead the development of cloud-based, cutting-edge solutions for our future artificial intelligence products. The ability to continuously learn and to rapidly adapt modern technologies is a key skillset for this position. The ability to create new industry leading ideas is also a key skillset for this position. Additionally, this role requires expertise managing multiple highly skilled development teams, cross organizational collaboration, an understanding of cloud-based architectures, knowledge of current trends in AI development products, knowledge of security, and an understanding of efficient usage of resources on modern cloud providers.\n\nAs a Senior Software Manager, you will:\nManage a team of engineers and developers to build the multiple cloud-based SAS products and services that integrate into SAS other products.\nManage and lead project scoping and scheduling; tracks progress of individual tasks and alerts executive management and stakeholders of concerns meeting schedules, while following established R&D standards.\nOrganize, develop, prioritize, and assign resources to deliver high quality, testable and scalable software solutions within established timelines, while adhering to R&D best practices and processes.\nBe an active contributor in setting the future direction of and implementing changes to practices and technologies. Recommend modifications or improvements to operating procedures.\nManage and prioritize development projects and regularly communicates project status with upper management.\nCollaborate with other technical managers to ensure quality and consistency among software components and products within the SaaS Division.\nContribute to the direction of the product through collaboration with Product Management, Marketing, Sales, Customers, and others within SAS.\nManage aspects of the department including teamwork, performance management, mentorship, feedback, and professional growth through collaboration with SAS Human Resources, SAS Education and Executive Leadership.\nRequired qualifications\n12+ years of experience in software development, system architecture and design, software testing, or related experience\n3+ year of project lead, supervisory or management experience\nBachelor’s degree in a quantitative field, preferably in Computer Science or a related discipline.\nStrong problem-solving skills and ability to tackle complex technical challenges with creativity and innovation.\nPrevious experience managing multiple, parallel work efforts while effectively managing competing priorities and mitigating obstacles.\nProficiency with application development and best agile software development practices.\nKnowledge of Cloud service providers such as Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure and Google Cloud Provider.\nPreferred qualifications\nUnderstanding of SQL and non-SQL DB technologies.\nExperience with Kubernetes and Open Source technologies.\nKnowledge of DevOps practices and tools, including CI/CD pipelines, GitOps workflows, and containerization.\nWorld-class benefits\n\nHighlights include...\n\nComprehensive medical, prescription, dental and vision plans.\nMedical plan options include…\nPPO with low annual deductible and copays.\nHDHP combined with a health savings account with a contribution from SAS (no access to on-site health care center).\nOnsite Health Care Center (HQ) that’s free to employees and family members enrolled in the PPO plan.
