Legal Assistant
Position Summary:Legal Assistants are responsible for maintaining, in tandem with the associate attorney, the teams docket, calendaring, and client/opposing counsel contacts.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:Assist in settlement negotiationsCollect all necessary documents for each clientDevelop and maintain relationships with each clientDevelop relationships with opposing counsel and support staffEnsure the execution of settlement agreementsDraft various types of letters to both clients and opposing counselRecognize, notate, and prepare for important deadlinesAddress post settlement issues as they arisePerform other duties as required and assignedBachelor's Degree is preferred but not requiredPrevious experience in a law firm setting is preferred.Excellent oral and written communication skillsSuperior analytic skillsAbility to change tasks quicklyComputer ProficiencyMust pass credit and criminal background checkSupervisory ResponsibilitiesThis position has no supervisory responsibilities.Work EnvironmentThis job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, scanners, etc.Physical DemandsThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to talk and hear. The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, and use hands to type or handle paperwork. May be required to sit for long periods of time and/or walk between office locations.Position Type/Expected Hours of WorkThere is some flexibility when selecting a start time, but the employee must be available during the "core" work hours of the selected schedule and is expected to work a 40 hour week. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.
