US Buyer/Planner
Summary/ObjectiveSupport production by ensuring the overall accurate and cost-effective purchase of raw materials for inventory and non-stock items as required. Ensure the on-time supply of all materials to meet customer demand following guidelines of desired inventory levels. Owner of inventory management processes.Essential FunctionsReasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.Plan supply for production materials, MRO (maintenance and repair), and components, following days on hand, MRP reports, and production scheduleInitiate purchase orders and amendments and communicate with vendorsSecure and analyze quotations; negotiate process and terms with suppliers; recommend suppliers with respect to cost, quality, and delivery competitivenessOversee receipt of inventory materials and assist with receiving when neededMaintain cost monitoring/cost adjustment system that is implemented and enforced with our supply baseReport any discrepancy of information concerning receipts of materials or shipmentsVendor and part number managementCoordinates and performs regularly scheduled inventory checks (cycle counts) of all stock and reconciles inventory discrepanciesResponsible for the tool crib area.Minimize inventory levels without jeopardizing productionDevelop, implement, and manage the supplier management system; including on-time delivery monitoringEnsure all suppliers follow receiving guidelinesParticipate as needed in quality matters, engineering changes and developments between Core Molding Technologies activities and suppliersAct as backup for shipping departmentUpdate and maintain materials module of the ERPCollaborate in meeting requirements of IATF 16949 and ISO-14001 systemsPerform other job-related duties as assigned and directed by managerAssist with supplier approval and supplier PPAP processesCompetenciesBusiness Acumen, Communication, Critical Evaluation, Delivery and Shipment Awareness, Relationship Management, Ethical PracticeSupervisory ResponsibilityThis position manages employees of the Tool Crib area and is responsible for the performance management and hiring of the employees in that department.Work EnvironmentThis job operates in a professional manufacturing office and shop floor environment. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday.
