This is a critical role ensuring Amazon Leo's first aviation terminals meet applicable certification regulations on a first-generation product. As a Senior Certification Aviation Engineer, you will engage with an experienced cross-disciplinary team to conceive, design and develop innovative phased array antenna terminals for aviation applications. You must be responsive, flexible and able to succeed within an open collaborative peer environment.Key job responsibilitiesDeliver results on complex projects involving cross functional teams across the companySubject matter expert on all certification for Leo's aviation product development.Work with stakeholders to define requirements and product definition designed to meet aviation certification requirementsContribute to and influence new product design and architectureUnderstand current system capabilities and limitations and how this impacts certificationProblem solve and explore solutions to current processes and systemsCoordinate with cross functional teams to deliver a quality product on time and at costDrive continuous improvementFlawless execution in delivery of documents and systems to meet and exceed our partner teams timelines.This role will require travel.Export Control RequirementDue to applicable export control laws and regulations, candidates must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (i.e., current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.A day in the lifeLeading and managing the certification aspects for the aviation products with our certification and OEM partners. Working closely with the internal engineering groups to find compliance, resolve issues and find solutions for complex certification situations. This team is comprised of industry leading experts in diverse fields aligned to the mission to serve the under or not served adequately populations across the world.Basic QualificationsExperience in developing functional specifications, design verification plans and functional test procedures5+ years of managing complex technology projects working directly with engineering teams7+ years in an aviation regulatory and/or compliance role (DO160, FAR P21/P145, OEM Boeing/Airbus)5+ years of leading high performing, technologically savvy teamsExperience leading and defining requirements and driving these across diverse organizationsBachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science or related, or equivalent work experiencePreferred QualificationsMaster's degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, or equivalentExperience working with interdisciplinary teams to execute product design from concept to productionExperience with the project management of technical projects5+ years of project management disciplines including scope, schedule, budget, quality, along with risk and critical path management experienceExperience managing projects across cross functional teams, building sustainable processes and coordinating release schedulesExperience defining KPI's/SLA's used to drive multi-million dollar businesses and reporting to senior leadership8+ Experience in Aviation Electronics Program ManagementWell-rounded experiences in relevant industries with a holistic view and keen business acumenProven track record of complex and creative problem solving and the desire to create new processes or simplify and improve on current onesProven ability to influence others, facilitate agreement among stakeholders with different interests, and executive communicationsKeen eye for details, intuitive, ability to look around the corner and thrive in ambiguous situationMasters' or PhD degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Business or equivalent work experienceExcellent analytical and communication skillsAmazon is an equal opportunity employer and does not discriminate on the basis of protected veteran status, disability, or other legally protected status.Our inclusive culture empowers Amazonians to deliver the best results for our customers. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
