Seward County Community College serves as an important link to higher education in the remote corner of Southwest Kansas, serving a student population of which around 70% is first int their families to attend college. More than half identified as Hispanic. We draw students from a five-state service area. The success full candidate must be familiar to the region or willing to relocate and became acculturated to the community and demographic flavors of the rural Midwest.Seward County Community College is seeking a Welding Technology Instructor to support expanded program offerings in Ulysses, Kansas. This position plays a key role in delivering high-quality workforce training aligned with regional industry needs.ResponsibilitiesThe Welding Instructor is responsible for providing classroom and hands-on laboratory instruction in welding processes, supporting student success, and maintaining a safe and effective learning environment. The instructor will also assist with program development, student advising, and community engagement.QualificationsMinimum of two (2) years of welding experience in an industry settingDemonstrated proficiency in multiple welding processes (SMAW, GMAW, GTAW, etc.)Ability to weld on a variety of materials including carbon steel, stainless steel, and aluminumStrong communication and organizational skillsPreferred QualificationsAssociate degree or technical certificate in Welding TechnologyAWS Certification (preferred but not required)Prior teaching or training experienceAWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) or Certified Welding Educator (CWE)Essential FunctionsDeliver instruction in welding processes including SMAW, GMAW, GTAW, and OAWProvide hands-on training in lab environments using industry-standard equipmentMaintain a safe learning environment and ensure compliance with all safety standardsSupport student learning through advising, mentoring, and assessmentMaintain inventory of equipment, tools, and materialsParticipate in program assessment, curriculum development, and accreditation processesEngage with local industry and community partners to support workforce needsSalary/BenefitsCompetitive salary.
