Heavy Diesel Technician
Overview
We are seeking a skilled Heavy Diesel Mechanic to join our team dedicated to maintaining and repairing a wide range of heavy-duty equipment and a fleet of vehicles. This role requires extensive mechanical expertise, particularly in diesel engine repair, hydraulic systems, electrical heavy machinery diagnostics. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in automotive and industrial equipment maintenance, with the ability to work independently and efficiently in a fast-paced environment. Experience with various heavy equipment types is highly desirable. This position offers an opportunity to work on diverse machinery including excavators, rollers, pavers, milling machines, pick up trucks and dump trucks.
Candidate must have a valid drivers license, CDL a plus, own tools a plus
Responsibilities
Diagnose and repair diesel engines, transmissions, hydraulics, suspension systems, air brakes, and HVAC systems on heavy equipment
Perform routine maintenance such as oil changes, tire service, brake repairs, shocks & struts replacement, and wheel alignments
Utilize schematics and technical manuals to troubleshoot complex mechanical issues
Conduct welding, soldering, fabrication, and assembly tasks as needed for equipment repair or modification
Operate hand tools, power tools, and specialized diagnostic equipment safely and effectively
Maintain detailed service records and ensure all repairs meet safety standards and manufacturer specifications
Assist with the installation and setup of new machinery or components
Conduct inspections on industrial equipment, tractor-trailers, excavators, and other heavy-duty vehicles or equipments
Ability to work alone or as a team
Experience
Proven mechanic experience with heavy diesel engines and industrial equipment maintenance
Dealership experience is preferred but not mandatory; extensive hands-on experience with automotive diagnostics is essential
Familiarity with various brands of construction equipment provides is advantageous
Knowledge of fabrication techniques including welding and metalworking
Experience operating heavy equipment such as excavators, tractors/trailers, etc
Ability to read schematics and technical manuals for troubleshooting complex systems
Skilled in the use of hand tools, power tools, soldering equipment, and diagnostic devices
Strong understanding of vehicle maintenance procedures including air brake systems and alignments
Mechanical knowledge of hydraulics, electrical, engine, suspension systems, HVAC systems in vehicles/equipment is highly desirable
Ability to lift heavy components safely and perform physically demanding tasks efficiently
