Part-Time Instructor – Game Design & Development

Location: Bay Area (in-person instruction; must be willing to travel locally) Schedule: Spring Session: April–May (weekly classes) Summer Camp: June–August (half-day or full-day camps) Commitment: Part-time / Contract About the Role We are looking for a Part-Time Unity Instructor to teach middle- and high-school students game design and interactive 3D development using Unity. This role is ideal for a hands-on builder who enjoys mentoring young creators and can translate technical concepts into engaging, age-appropriate lessons. You will be responsible for designing detailed lesson plans and leading in-person classroom instruction during Spring sessions and Summer camps. Key Responsibilities Design and develop structured Unity lesson plans for youth (beginner to intermediate levels) Lead in-class instruction, demos, and guided build sessions Teach core Unity concepts including: Scene setup, GameObjects, and components Basic C# scripting Physics, lighting, and collisions Asset integration and simple animations Support students through hands-on projects such as: Mini games Interactive environments Capstone game demos Adapt lessons for different age groups and skill levels Foster a fun, inclusive, and safe learning environment Communicate student progress and feedback to program leads Support showcase or demo-day presentations (when applicable) Qualifications Required 2+ years experience working with Unity (professional, academic, or strong personal projects) Experience teaching, mentoring, or working with kids or teens Experience with C# scripting in Unity Ability to explain technical concepts clearly and patiently Comfortable managing a classroom and guiding group activities Reliable transportation and willingness to travel to local class locations Preferred Background in game design, computer science, or interactive media Prior experience teaching camps, after-school programs, or workshops Passion for creative education, design thinking, or STEM learning Nice-to-Have Familiarity with beginner-friendly game design principles Interest in mentoring students beyond just technical skills Compensation Competitive hourly rate based on experience Travel stipend or mileage reimbursement (if applicable) Why Join Us Make a real impact teaching kids how to build, not just consume Creative freedom to design lessons and projects Supportive, mission-driven environment Opportunity for recurring sessions and future programs Pay: From $35.00 per hour Application Question(s): Are you willing to be finger printed and background checked?
