Together, we are securing a healthy ocean and a thriving planet, forever and for everyone.\n\nPOSITION SUMMARY\nThe Budget Manager is responsible for the financial management of specific cost centers assigned within Ocean Conservancy’s conservation programs. Within their assigned portfolio, the Budget Manager manages the full lifecycle of compliance for restricted grants, matching funds and unrestricted funding. The incumbent works across multiple cost centers, as needed, to manage financial reporting and analysis, program and project budgets, revenue recognition, cost proposals and lead financial system data entry. This position ensures compliance with donor and Ocean Conservancy policies regarding the use of funds. As the primary financial liaison to program staff, the Budget Manager leads efforts to achieve alignment across executive, program and development staff on financial information.\n\nPRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES\n\nLead financial management and analysis.\n\nEnsure compliance with organizational policies and procedures, as well as donor reporting requirements.\n\nReview program spending monthly to ensure costs are allowable and compliant with funding requirements.\n\nEnsure the ERP is updated with all proposals, amendments and reporting requirements.\n\nServe as budget management for assigned cost centers.\n\nRevenue Recognition for assigned cost centers.\n\nAssist with audit preparation.\n\nGenerate project and program financial reports for internal and external parties.\n\nRevise (“reproject”) the annual budget to ensure revenue allocations and expense budgets reflect current information and are accurate forecasts of projected expense.\n\nManage staff allocations for assigned cost centers.\n\nPerform financial tracking and modeling.\n\nCreate spenddown plans.\n\nAdvise on grant extensions, as needed.\n\nLiaise with Operations and Development teams on sub-grants and sub-contracts financed by program funds.\n\nOversee Development and Program staff in preparing grant proposal budgets, grant financial reporting and re-projections.\n\nResearch and respond to program staff inquiries regarding internal financial statements.\n\nSupport integration of complex revenue streams into annualized program budgets during the work planning process.\n\nLead coordination across programs and departments related to complex budget planning, execution and reporting.\n\nTrack progress on programs with restricted funds.\n\nSupport the planning, preparation and review of annual program budgets.\n\nAssist in any ad hoc reporting as assigned.\n\nOther duties as assigned.\n\nREQUIRED SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE\n\nFour (4) or more years of recent relevant experience in nonprofit budget management, including management of complex revenue streams required.\n\nKnowledge of Federal compliance requirements.\n\nExperience working with program staff to translate effort to budget needs in annual work planning.\n\nExperience working with cross-functional teams.\n\nExperience with software enabled budgeting preferred.\n\nStrong attention to detail, excellent written and verbal communication skills, and a proven ability to meet deadlines.\n\nDemonstrated cultural competency and interpersonal communication skills, effectively collaborating with individuals across diverse roles and functions throughout the institution.\n\nCustomer-focused professional with strong collaborative skills and a high level of emotional intelligence.\n\nEDUCATION/TRAINING\nBachelor's degree in Finance or Accounting, or equivalent experience.\n\nCOMPENSATION\nOcean Conservancy is committed to fair pay practices and posts expected salary ranges for each of its positions. Compensation will be commensurate with the candidate’s specialty skills, years of experience, location, and unique background. The expected salary range for this role is $90,000 - $100,000 annually.
