This position will play a pivotal role in designing and implementing robust, scalable data pipelines that enable seamless data flow across key educational and administrative systems. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in cloud-based data architecture (preferably Azure), ETL/ELT processes, and secure, real-time data integrations.The *Data Engineer *will be responsible for developing, optimizing, and maintaining real-time and bi-directional data synchronization pipelines between various systems, including:\n\n* *AMS* (Academic Management System)\n* *Azimuth Dataverse*\n* *Canvas LTI (Learning Tools Interoperability)*\n* *Slate Admissions Platform*\n\nThe consultant will also be instrumental in consolidating these data sources into a centralized, modern platform to support analytics, compliance, and operational reporting.\n\n*Key Responsibilities*\n\n* Design and build scalable, resilient data pipelines and integration workflows for real-time and batch processing.\n* Develop bi-directional sync mechanisms between AMS, Azimuth Dataverse, Canvas LTI, and Slate Admissions.\n* Build connectors and APIs where needed to enable seamless interoperability across platforms.\n* Perform data mapping, cleansing, transformation, and validation to ensure data integrity across systems.\n* Implement data governance, lineage tracking, and metadata management in alignment with organizational standards.\n* Collaborate with cross-functional teams including software engineers, data analysts, system administrators, and stakeholders to meet integration goals.\n* Develop automated monitoring and alerting solutions to track data flows, detect anomalies, and ensure system health.\n* Create and maintain comprehensive technical documentation including pipeline designs, system architecture diagrams, and ETL processes.\n* Support security, compliance, and policy requirements including DoD 8140 standards.\n\n*Required Certifications*\n\n* *Microsoft Certified: Azure Data Engineer Associate (DP-203)*\n* *DoD 8140 Compliant: IAT Level II Certification*, such as:\n* CompTIA Security+\n* CCNA Security\n* CySA+\n* GSEC, or equivalent\n\n*Preferred Skills and Experience*\n\n* 5+ years of experience in data engineering, with emphasis on cloud data platforms (Azure preferred).\n* Deep understanding of ETL/ELT pipelines using Azure Data Factory, Synapse Analytics, Databricks, or similar.\n* Experience with API integration, webhooks, and middleware for real-time data sync.\n* Proficiency in data modeling, SQL, and working with relational and non-relational databases.\n* Knowledge of educational technology platforms such as Canvas, Slate, and Dataverse.\n* Experience with containerization and orchestration tools (Docker, Kubernetes) is a plus.\n* Familiarity with DevOps practices and CI/CD for data pipelines.\n\nJob Types: Full-time, Part-time\n\nPay: Up to $60.00 per hour\n\nApplication Question(s):\n* Do you have experience working with any Federal Agency?
