Controller Job Summary: The controller will be responsible for all accounting, and oversee the financial activities of the company. As head of the accounting department, the controller will manage and supervise all aspects of accounting from all “closing the books activities” including financial statement preparation, Sarbanes Oxley ( SOX) compliance and variation analysis. Will report to the chief financial officer, and will assist with the development of internal control policies, procedures, and financial planning as needed. Controller Duties and Responsibilities: Manage all aspects of accounting; billing, financial statements, general ledger, payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, budgeting, tax compliance, revenue recognition, SOX compliance and testing, and various special analysesMaintain documented system of accounting policies and operationsOversee payments of all vendors; ensuring all accounts are processed accurately and paid on timeMonitor cash and funding balances including international entitiesPrepare and organize the consolidation of the worldwide US GAAP monthly, quarterly and annual financial statementsEnsure that monthly, quarterly and annual closing checklists are properly completedPrepares special reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trendsAdvise on financial analyses and decision-making and other matters with management and chief financial officerOrganize information, schedules and financial statements for audit for external auditors during quarterly reviews and the annual auditProtects operations by keeping financial information and plans confidential.Complying with all local, state, and federal laws regarding finances, tax filings, and reportingMaintains financial staff by recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training employees Educational & Experience Requirements: Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business administration with an emphasis in Accounting, or a related fieldIdeal candidate has 5 to 10 years of experience in fieldCertified Public Accountant ( CPA) or Certified Management Accountant ( CMA) license requiredPrevious experience as an accountant, accounting supervisor, or managerExcellent computer skills; proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Microsoft WordProficiency with accounting software - knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics Great Plains and Dynamics Navision a plusExceptional knowledge of finance, accounting, cost control principles, and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles ( US GAAP)Excellent written and verbal communication skillsAnalytical ability to develop and implement improvements or recommendationsAttention to detailProven ability to handle multiple projects simultaneouslyAble to work well with senior executives and team, as well as mentor/lead, motivate and supervise other finance team members COVID-19 Policy: Cogent has adopted a mandatory vaccination and booster policy which requires all U.S. employees to be fully vaccinated with one booster against COVID-19.
